Hello everyone,

I am heading to the Uwharrie this weekend with a 100 (285's, no running boards) and a bone stock GX 470. The difficult trails are out of the question, but what is your opinion on the GX's ability to run the moderate trails? I'm not so much worried about it's capability as I am the risk of getting body damage. These are daily drivers and I dont want them to get scraped up.

Thanks in advance

It really depends on the skill of the drivers and the spotting. On our runs we've seen stock rigs do all of the trails with no damage, due to good driving and thoughtful spotting. URE's "hard" trails aren't all that difficult - you might want to wait on Daniel until towards the end when both drivers have a better feel and more confidence.

In short, the only real risk I see on any of the trails for the GX is running boards - and you can avoid mangling them, again, with good driving and spotting.

I knew people wiser than me with wagons would chime in. Besides my 40 the only other vehicle i ever took thru them was a 1990 S-10 that was running on 35 Swampers. Granted that was about 15 years ago and the trails have changed alot since then. Infact we were looking at my old map from like 10 years ago versus the new one for this year and the trails are rated alot different now.

We definitely will not be running any of the difficult trails. Our ultimate objective is camping off of a trail, and we were thinking about running on Falls Dam and Dickey Bell. Dickey Bell is the one that concerns me for the GX.

Like the others said, if you take youre time and have good spotting you should be alright. There are a few places on the easier trails that arent real difficult, but are real tight. You should probably able to slip through them though

Yeah, you may want to stear clear of Rocky Mtn. Loop. Its really not that bad except right before Kodak rock. The ledge to the right has gotten really nasty, the left side bypass isnt to bad.

oh come on, right side isn't all that bad....only kidding

I was getting ready to say dont let Allen hear you say that

1 Good rainstorm and a bunch of Atv's though will tear a trail up fast though.

Youre exactly right, I made my first trip to URE about 2 years ago and it is amazing how that obstacle has changed in such a short period of time.

yeah, come on this way you can do. OH BOY!

so how did you fare??? we like pics :D

was going to add, you should be fine on everything but daniel and rocky mtn loop but see you went this past weekend
