Hello all
I’ll be doing my first oil change in a week and I have some question about oil /oil filter my Lc has 104k miles so far
What’s the different between Castrol/Gtx and Mobile super oil (both 5W30) ? which one is better ?
For filter is there a different between Bosch premium(3330) and Mobile 1(M1-102)?
How do I know if PO used synthetic oil ?
Thank you

Functionally, assuming you're changing the oil at reasonable intervals, I don't think you'll find a difference between the 2 oil brands. My preference is Mobil 1 extended mileage oil...more additives in higher percentages, such as zinc. Differences on the Mobil 1 website.

For filters, I use a Mobil 1 M1-209...same as the M1-102, but 2 or so inches longer for more filtration capacity. I've also used the equivalent Wix and NAPA Gold (made by Wix). I tend to change the oil around 7500 miles.

No way to know PO's oil choice without contacting him.

As @hankinid points out, no way to know unless you contact the PO or have applicable service records. I run synthetics regardless (yeah I know the debate about leaks and crap, but it's what I do).

For filters I've only used OEM on all my toyotas.

thank you guys, do u guys use magnetic plug aswell? i was looking at Autozone ! is there another place to buy magnetic plugs?

I don't use a magnetic plug, but I've got insanely strong speaker magnets (about an inch in diameter) stuck on the pan near the plug and on the end of the filter.

If you're interested in how the engine is doing based on the oil (or tranny fluid, for that matter) you drain, $25 or so spent with Blackstone Labs is well worth the money. More oil info than you can stand on bobistheoilguy.com .

eta...another thing you can do is give the vin number to a Toyota service writer, they can pull and print all service records for stuff both done at a dealer, as well as not done due to owner passing on the service.

thanx man , do u have a floor jack ? if yes what weight capacity are using 3-4 tons?
