IIRC our comp showed about 0.5 mpg better than real on long distances

I want one of those lying computers !!

Even if I am not actually getting the mileage it indicates, I can always PRETEND it`s accurate.... I love false senses` of happiness :D

Can anybody recommend a good (source for) trip computer?

Prfrbly one that tells the truth.

Two.

1) A pencil and paper.

2) Any calculator by Hewlett Packard.

Fuel consumption is very simple calculation, her in the US we take miles driven on the tank divided by the number gallons it took to refill the tank for MPG. I believe most countries in europe base consumption on liters per 100 km driven. To perform that calculation take the number of Kilometers driven on a tank, divide it by 100 then take the result and divide it into the number of liters the tank took to fill. This will give the liters per 100 km.

Thank you Cary.
Very informative. Right you are, although I do prefer a Palm as solution #2.
I see a benefit in a device that can tell the consumption instantly, to get the link with the movements of the right foot (not to do the wrong move). As well as beeing able to (easily) compete about the best average mileage for a trip. (e.g. with yourself)

We have been testing our stock 100 over the last month here is what we have found:

17.9mpg hwy 1000' to 6800' 65-75mph
14.7mpg hwy 1000' to 6800' pulling 2000# pop-up trailer - mostly 65mph max
13-14mpg in the city stop and go - 100+ degrees

So far we have been pleased with the mpg.

This weekend we will be heading up to Colorado (no trailer) to see how the stock 100 will do wheeling. Saturday we will be doing Black Bear (if open) and Imogene on the return. Sunday will something else depending on how the 100 does on Saturday. Pictures to follow

I just finished a road trip in the LX and got a constant 16...I-10 the whole trip...completely flat...cruise set on 72-78 depending on how much fuzz was around...regular gas.
