Back in October I made the move from a Disco to a 99 Hundy (so glad I did), and when I bought Bruiser the Cruiser from another MUD member in Florida he had already installed a set of BIO bumpers. I was very impressed with the products BIO was making so I called Mike up in February and asked him to build me a set of sliders and a roof rack. After a little bit of chatting and a few months later I received a big pallet with sliders, a roof rack, and a 50" Engo LED bar (Mike talked me into this one
) wrapped up nicely in heavy moving blankets. Mike took great care in making sure everything was protected for it's trip from Colorado down to New Orleans. I know everyone knows this here, but Mike is just a great guy, and if you ever need anything I highly suggest calling him first.
After getting everything unpacked from the pallet this is what we had...
Below is how Bruiser (my Cruiser) started the day.
I first started with removing the factory roof rack which was a breeze if you follow the instructions on this forum. It took about 10 minutes.
After that I cleaned the spots under the stock rack which was pretty grimed up and started bolting the new roof rack mounts on. Mike supplied some nice stainless hardware for everything. This was a big plus.
The problem was once I got the rack on the roof I could not for the life of me get the middle brackets to line up with the rack. The holes/slots were to far inboard so I couldn't get a bolt through them. I called Mike (not really expecting an answer on Sunday), but just decided to slot them out a little more so I wouldn't have an issue so on to the drill press and jig saw! (P.S. Mike did call me back about an hour later. I truly wasn't expecting that on a Sunday!)
After I cut the bracket out I added a quick dab of paint to the bare metal and let it dry. While that was going on I decided to try and bolt up the sliders. Once I got them into position with some jack stands it was as simple as tightening 6 bolts.
Then I threw on the rack
And last but not least was the Engo 50" bar. I had to modify the mounting brackets a little because I wanted the wiring to run down the driver side which meant the antenna had to go on the pass and it would hit the mounting bracket. If I would have flipped the bar around this wouldn't have been necessary because the antenna would have been on the top of the mounting point, but I was this for so I did it the way I wanted it mounted. Out with the drill and jig saw again!
After doing a little painting again and a quick mounting I was done!
Bruiser looks great and is rocking some more armor! I am very excited. Just want to thanks Mike again for all the assistance.
