So we finally had agreeable schedules and I made it down to Tucson to pick it up...

I thought this was interesting. A Expedition with a Hawaii license plate...

So a little farther down I-10, actually right after I-10 and I-8 converge, A APC on a lowboy. Wonder where he was going? Yuma maybe? Even with no gun on the turret that's a pretty imposing piece of hardware.

Along the way I took some pics of trains, my other obsession. With the SP and Rio Grande just a memory, all the Class 1 railroads you see now are UP or BNSF trains in Arizona, depending on where you are. Here's UP 5270 (an EMD SD70M) heading up a Eastbound stack train railroad east of Eloy about to cross Toltec Road. Doing about 50MPH here.

Another UP train, railroad westbound of Eloy, about to enter the mainline after being held in the siding for the stack train in the previous picture. This is UP 2073, I think a GP-40.

While I was taking train pics these dogs barked at me. They did not appear friendly... :D

On Broadway Road in Tucson there is this cool pedestrian walkway. It's a rattlesnake. Here's the head:

The body:

And the tail:

So I made it to tfdcruiser's house late. He graciously waited for me (Thanks!) and we used his tractor to load the combo on my shizzle aluminum trailer (5x9 U-Haul)

By the way he has a very cool FJ40... 383, Swampers, YELLOW... forgot to take pics but it's nice.

On the way back I stopped off at the World's Smallest Jack in the Box. In the World's Smallest Jack in the Box is the World's Smallest Men's Room! Didn't have my camera  but it's funny as hell. I barely had room to turn around. If you're washing your hands you have to leave the bathroom for another visitor to get to the toilet! Funny stuff. Oh and they don't yet have Guacamole Ciabatta chicken sandwiches in Tucson yet.

So to go along with the World's Smallest Jack in the Box, I saw 4 (there are probably more) of Wienerschnitzel places. The World's Largest Hot Dog Chain. No kidding. 4 or more in Tucson alone. Wow. 3 were the old-school A-frame ones (1 had the drive thru in the middle of the building) :grinpimp: This was one of the newer ones:

Once out of Tucson I followed the Frontage Road a little to try and get more train pics. Of course as soon as I got back on the Freeway I saw more but it was too late. :crybaby:

As consolation I had one of my life questions answered. Ever wonder where they store the Carnival rides and food booths when they aren't being used to sever limbs? Eloy, AZ. You're welcome.

Caramel Apples! Corn Dogs! I was tempted, but alas, they're closed.

Well you either can find the joy and positive things in everything or you just don't get out of Fountain Hills much !! Glad you made it back safe and it was nice meeting you sorry I couldn't show you around more or hang out longer but I had to go feed my elderly aunt (yes I am a saint, ....not!) With the great weather here I hope to make it up your way and wheel sometime or just go to one of those famous Sonic meets or hopefully one day get the all clear from Kavic to come pick up those Fj60 axles! P.S. if you like trains you should save up for an hour or two (Mr. Fountain Hills computer-mogul-guy) and look into going on the Copper Canyon train tour. It is incredible and it was voted one of the world's ten best train rides by National geographic. I got to go because I was the medical support crew member. Gotta go good luck with the swap. Don.

Thanks Don. Good luck too on your project(s)(s)(s)(s)(s). Get that 40 up here for Florence Junction man!

I'm glad you enjoyed the trip to our quaint little burg.:D

Tucson is an interesting place. It's a wannabe metropolis with a small town political system.
