I would like to see a pic o two with the swing-out attached.

Overall with/without the swingout, how much does this weigh?

I am SLOWLY designing my own and it is looking to be similar in construction because I have no desire to cut my frame.

I had no idea who NWTI was until this post.

Don't worry about @2fpower , he's actually one of the good guys! Must have posted on a bad day for everyone! Definitely NOT a troll......

Now me.......

If I had no idea who you were or what your do.......I probably would have said the same, but he beat me to it and I thought it was humorous, and not in a bad way, 'cause I thought of my wife........And, I made almost the same comment to @LS1FJ40 last week.

Except, I would have said: "No, it's not the jeans that make it look fat.....it's your undercarriage!"

Thanks, we all have bad days. Today is one for me so my tolerance is/was uber low. I guess two bad days don't mesh :) But the CPA made my day with the refund

I will get back to you on the swingout. It is heavy maybe 50 lbs?? Just a guess, I lift so much heavy crap. I want a pic of it as well with it on. The bumper is super beefy though, Mrs CY and I did it and used a jack to support it. guessing 150 sans swingout??

Hey Jason, sorry if I offended you. Not my intention.

I learned something with my 4x4Labs kit that would apply to these also.. I saved so much money buying the unbuilt kit that it almost paid for the Miller welder and supplies. Hobart/Lincoln would be even cheaper. MIG/GMAW is quite easy with the free learning resources available on youtube/etc.. And once you have a welder lots of other things become easy. One seemingly unrelated thing.. when I broke an exhaust manifold bolt off in the head of my engine and it laughed at extractors, eventually breaking one off in the bolt.. the MIG machine saved my butt.

Anyway.. I really like that other kits are becoming available.

OK Thanks! That's definitely a heavy one! Looks like the recovery points are 3/4" and maybe are bolted directly to the frame members? Those would make it really heavy, even if the rest of it were only made of 7 Ga.

My first round design on a front bumper made it well over 400 LB, so I have had to back way out of that and do some serious redesign.

Thanks!

thanks K, really appreciate it. I know you are one of the good guys. Just had a bad day and no tolerance. I totally agree that it's very hard to get a skinny on these. I love the the 4x4 labs bumper, maybe someday but I want to be able to 1)tow and 2)reverse changes if needed. I can do everything to my rig currently. BUt yea, the butt is a tad larger but not like that other one from 3-4 years ago. Not gonna search for it but a lot of you will know what I am talking about. It screamed sir-mix-a-lot :)

WOW. 400LBS!?!?!?! Are you building a tank? Seriously, that's crazy. I can lift this up solo but not so much when fine-tuning it, hence the jack and wife. But 400lbs, ya, that would be a doozy. And dont forget that you have to add a winch at 100 lbs. It seems that at that weight you'd go through front end parts pretty quickly.

I appreciate the pics and info on the bumper. I have been trying to decide if I wanted to do the NWTI for some time....but I don't know how to weld, so I would be at the mercy of finding a reputable welder that won't break the bank.

I read that and all I saw was " I don't have a welder, don't know how to weld, but I do have a good excuse now to buy one and learn" !!!!!

I would consider it but from a standpoint of people driving behind me on the highway....I am not sure I want to weld a bumper that could become a missile. My dad knows how to weld but is in another state, so I might see if he can come over one weekend and help/teach/I drink beer and watch.

Anyone else recalling those college days when their girlfriend asked if those black jeans made her ass look big?

Yes, and I think there are safe places for sensitive ones, I got the 4x4labs because I hate getting the thing ( receiver auger ed into the dirt and I have to dig ) and since you live where there are not tons of mountains you will be fine :hillbilly:

Good plan on the beer/watch. Just get a decent welding helmet so you can really see what's happening. Personally I don't trust my vision to harbor freight so I invested in a good lincoln helmet for about $230.

I think you'd be surprised how easy it is to learn MIG. Plus if you are worried about it, there are methods to cut your practice welds, clean the surfaces, then etch them to see whether you are getting adequate penetration.. which is ultimately what matters. Get some scrap steel and go to town learning the skill.. be smart about your material position/orientation during welding (which simplifies the process).. then when you feel good about it build that bumper.

I'm just saying it's an option that many people think is over their head. Getting "stacked dimes" with a TIG machine on titanium or "walking the cup"? yes. But MIG welding mild steel is super accessible.

This guy has awesome instructionals and has mastered the art of filming the arc so you can see what is going on: Mig Welding Videos

I can sort-of-weld, but there is no way I'd trust/subject my bumper to that kind of torture. I'll just have a friend do it in exchange for some cash. I like the NWTI rear.

I like this. A lot. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Labs bumper. Just don't care for it. Not my cup of tea...

Some day soon I will get a rear bumper. And welder.

I have no affiliation with these guys

After searching a long time for a rear bumper that did not require cutting off the rear cross member, I finally have one. I wanted to keep my OEM tow hitch and this allows me to do so. This thing is super stout. I have the rear swing out in the shop, but I wanted it to be removable because I open the back a lot and it's a pain, so this allows me to put it on as needed. The shackles are nice too. I am not a fan of the NWTI cutout but oh well.

I did have to cut about an inch off my tailpipe, but I don't smell exhaust. The aluminum step gets removed too.

It's a DIY bumper kit, i think it is $440 and the swing out is $375.

First of all, thanks for purchasing our bumper. I'm sure there's a better spot for an 'official' QnA, but if you have any questions about this bumper, feel free to shoot us a text (360) 798-2337.

The shackle hangers integrated into the bumper mounts are 5/8"

Yes, the rear bumper kit starts at $440. 1990-1997 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ80/FZJ80/LX450 Rear Weld Together Off Road Bumper Kit

I was waiting on another project to come to fruition but not sure when that will happen, so this might be my option.

Is the swing-out easily taken off and put back on? I would love to see pics of the swing-out on there as well if available. Thanks!
