After trolling these forums for 10 months, finally found our rig.

2000 LX 470 140K miles.

Took it on our first our first "off road" trip last weekend (See the picture for the first time we hit dirt).

Mods We're preparing to do as we can afford (Appreciate tips, even though there are thousands of posts that I'm going through):
1. CV Boot (Will be fixed next week!) Thought about doing a lift at the same time, but it seems people don't have a problem with the AHC.
2. RTT and Rack (We camp a lot. It will be nice to not have to find a tent spot)
3. Recovery Gear
4. Stereo (I need bluetooth and Sirius/XM :))
5. CB Radio - Do people still use these?
6. Sliders (Already went over a couple rocks that made me nervous)
7. Bumpers
8. Lift and Tires
9. Dual Battery
10. Fridge

Can't wait to meet some people to trail with. We're in Utah if any one has tips on groups.

Heading up to Glacier in a couple weeks for our honeymoon. Appreciate tips on easy trails to do on the way or once up there.

Congrats!
I have a deposit on an 06 470 with about 53K miles, should be here by next weekend I imagine.
VERY excited!

I believe stereo wise you are VERY limited.
From what I understand unless your system is very different than mine your main options
Are VAIS or USASpec, lots of info on those here. There is someone playing with a complete replacement
But seems it's still in its early stages.

Only real changes I am going to make would be 33's. This is mainly transportation to my hunt property and driving the kid safely around in the winter and other crappy days. I'm really leaning towards BFG AT's but the tire shop goof was trying to tell me I won't like the ride or noise...

Congrats to you. Just recently joined the club as well after an exhaustive search. Looks like you have a solid list of mods in your future. A wealth of information is on this site. Enjoy the new ride

Add up all the weight of your mods, passengers and gear and that will determine your primary need for suspension upgrade, other than being driven solely by trail difficulty.

Nice, traditional build list for sure. :)

Based on your description I'm thinking tires and sliders first. Then see what your 2" AHC won't do for you.

Wow. Sounds like a sweet ride. I haven't even looked at stereos yet. You're making nervous!

Thank you. I did the math for the weight. I'll need heavy duty . Don't think I'll ask my fiancé for her weight though.

I got my new LX a few months ago other than baselining all the fluids I went ahead and did the stereo with a pioneer 4200 nex and bypassed the factory amp it has made my 16 year old LX feel like a modern car.

Looks awesome. When you say bypass factory amp, does it sound good?
yes I had a car stereo place do the install. This was his explanation for bypass. The Amp is 16 years old and will probably go at any moment, The pioneer has a built in amp that is just as good if not better than factory due to better technology between now and then. I am not an Audio geek but to me the sound now is spectacular and that was keeping the 16 year old speakers. I also looked at Kenwood but side to side the Pioneer wins hands down.

What made you go with that head unit over similar ones in the 250-350 range?

Where are you seeing the 4200NEX for 250-350?

Nice truck timmytool!

I first had the stereo place install a 300.00 kenwood unit that I thought would be good due to it had the old fashion volume knob instead of buttons. when the shop was walking me through the set up they found that the unit functions were not all working. That on top of the overall cheap look did not sit well with me. I found that the pioneer unit that I went with had Apple Car Play and also could mirror my Iphone with ease. My LX is a daily driver I have a 40 mile ride one way to work and the Radio is something that I will have to look at everytime I get into the car so I was ok spending a little more. Also I have a lower mileage rig at 77K and plan to shoot for the 500K mark so maybe spending a little more now means less later.

Gotcha.....I looked and the unit seems to run around $575 on Amazon. There are several other Pioneer units that are similar in the 250-350 range. I like the look of the 4200 though. Thanks.
