Dan, Dan and Mark....Thanks a TON for the help! I didnt intend to take up so much of your time this eve, but I appreciate the ADDITIONAL help with getting the tub bolts started!

If any of you are around Sat. to help me set the cage...That is the thing I WILL NEED a few of you guyz for.

Got it painted after you all left.:bounce::bounce2:

You're welcome! I can help as long as we start no later than 9:00AM. Lemme know.

Im always up early anyway...
This would just take a few minutes. I wouldnt need any help getting the bolts through.

Rusty, you up for another move??? PLEASE!!!:D

See you guyZ tomorrow then between 8 and 830!!! :)

Thank you!!!

I'll be there

I'll be there, I have to pick up wheel cylinder rebuild kits at Oriely at 7:30, I'll head straight over from there.

I know I said I'd be over to help, but looks like I'm begging out. Heading up to Tahoe for a bike trail double date with some friends.

It took about fifteen minutes for the three of us to formulate a plan and implement it.

BIG PROPS to Chicago. I ran into problems with my brake job and he let me salvage wheel cylinders off of his unused 40 axle to get my rig running again.
Saved the day for me.
Basically my truck had three wheel cylinders from 1975+ and one from who the hell knows when. The rebuild kits I had were all for 1975+ wheel cylinders.

Chicago let me strip all the brake components off of the old FJ40 rear axle he had. I wound up with what I needed to finish my brake job plus a full set of shoes with 50% or more of the pads left. More than enough stuff to keep my truck stopping for the foreseeable future.

Thanks again Dan(s) for the help. Didn't wanna move that cage back in by myself.
Not a problem at all grabbing those wheel cylinders at all. Like I said. It going to scrap anyway.
May still pull the thirds out though and learn to set those up when I get bored after this is all over. :)

Let me know if you want to use my utility trailer when you get ready to make a haul to SIMS.
I'd like the axles and third out of the 40 rear axle.

sorry I missed this been in elko for the last few days..

Glad I could help and that you got the cage in. Was in Phoniex on fri and sat. It was hot. Give me the MTN air anytime over that.

Spare axles would be cool since my spare is off Hwy 4 somewhere with a 35 pro comp attached to it:crybaby:.

I sure know how to kill a thread:o. Sounds like I wanted the axles from the housing. I don't, but spares axles should be saved and are nice for someone. Never seen a broken rear axle in a 40. Also the rear cover should be saved as sometimes those get bashed in or drug over a rock and the bottom lip is toast. The brakes are usually not worth saving as well as the bearings and seals. The third is a life saver if you bust a pinion on the trail. So I would be happy to dissect the thing if no one else wants to.

Good point on the diff cover.
The brake shoes had about 50 - 60 % left I pulled them off when I salvaged the wheel cylinders.

I could never keep those stock brakes in adjustment. It seemed like they were either to tight or loose or the adjustments were froze up. One time I paid for a brake job and they had them so tight it wouldn't coast. Time for the rear disc upgrade:cool: Very cool. No problemo since I've had them.
