still trying to figure out how you can use the phrase ''v-8'' and the word ''restoration'' in a sentence without using the words ''not'' and ''a''.

A Vintage Air air conditioning unit has been installed with a Retro Sound radio in the dash. Line-X coating has been applied to both inside floor and under cab areas. It was also added to both sides of the truck bed.

I don't get putting the windshield vent screens in the interior like that.

Interior is kept simple. Seats installed and excess dash holes filled and metal finished. A new BTB dash assembly with Auto-Meter gauges has been installed.

The window regulators are intriguing. Rotating them upside down would involve re-engineering the arms, but would get the crank away from your knee cap. Hmmm.

Beautiful work, no doubt about that. But it's a shame to lose such a rare survivor.

Brian at BTB relayed to me a couple years ago over lunch he does not deal with old F engines at this point in his life. I don't think he keeps any parts around for them. No doubt he can probably still tune them if someone stops by with issues. But he doesn't use them in his builds. Too bad that isn't a 2F. I'd try to grab it.

BTB is now rebuilding 2F engines and doing original restorations for customers. Some customers are still looking for more drivability so they can use their cruisers. So BTB builds what their customers want.

Nothing wrong with doing a v8 conversion and a 700r4 swap etc. But to do it on a extremely rare find that is probably the last field find swb pickup in america it does not make sense to make a resto mod out of it. For the same money to build this rig a aqualu tub and frame could be purchased and the same thing could be built without ruining a solid unmolested original.

I didn't take the time to read the previous 4 pages to see if we are dealing with a purist or not, but if not you could cut about 18" out of the back of the bed, behind the rear tire, in front of the tail gate. End result will be a 4 ft. long bed with tire centered fore and aft in the side of the bed, like mine.

Cripes, now I did look at the whole article, my entry here is far too late- - -erase erase erase

@Downey - any more pics of your 45 anywhere? Looks sharp.
I have about 12 more photos on a disc, tried to post some up here on Mud, Mud would only let me upload 5, then I couldn't enlarge the prints- - -all of this because I am the most internet illiterate bozo on the planet.

I noticed in a photo of the frame, the tube frame brace was removed. Did the brace supporting the transfer case adequately replace it?
