looking for a FJ40 and saw one for sale with a fiberglass body. Never heard of that before. I called the guy and it's not just the hood, it's the entire body. Good or bad thing, anybody have any experience with a fiberglass body. I haven't taken a look at it yet, wanted to get info first. Any comments welcome.

If its a Mike Gozzard tub then you are in good shape as they are very well made (best glass tub you can get). If its any other make I would be wary of it.

Note I have no real direct experience with fiberglass tubs - just did alot of research on them when I was looking at tub replacement options and posting what I 'learned' to be the general consensus out there.

My build a couple years ago on my 77 FJ40 w/ gozzard tub, fenders and rear doors.

Also, do a search for fiberglass in this forum. This topic has been discussed in great detail, you'll probably get all your questions answered that way.

Hope this helps, Matt

Mine came with a glass tub, it's not Gozzard though. If I would have done it myself I would have gone Gozzard, but I'm not sure if they were available when mine was done.

I think mine's about 8 years old. It has some little problems but overall I like it, but I don't prefer it to steel. I wouldn't trade a solid original steel one for glass. But they make a nice replacement if you have serious rusting.

From my experience with this one, I think I'll stick to steel from now on. If steel is properly sealed and cared for you just can't beat it. If it starts to rust badly then obviously glass has it's benefits at that point.

Just me
