P.S another thing i wanted to add i used to have an rx7 turbo so i have my run down with turbos and how they work and blah blah neways i was thinking of purchasing an old 2F motor and turboing it has anyone ever pulled it off??? if so can i have a link or just let me know your ideas on it lol :D

Thanks

Vacume leaks are killers. I suggest getting the emisssions manual and making sure the vac system is 100% correct. There are also very useful photos on this site that will greatly aid in getting the vac lines correct along with great article on what the various vacume readings mean.

If you dont have a vacume gage get one now. I cant see owning a 60 and not having one.

Depending on where you're getting 210 miles from a tank might be about normal. When I picked mine up in Seattle I had never even driven one so I hopped on the freeway and drove like I normally drove a car. Barely made 200 miles out of the 1st tank on the freeway! Scared the crap outta me as I still had 1100 miles to go. So I let up on the gas a little, checked the air in my tires on wqent on my way. I was able to squeeze about 300+ out of the next few tanks which calculated out to about 15+ MPG. Around town I'm lucky to get 150+ out of it............

So whatever you're doesn't sound so bad to us................

But a real good tune-up(including valve adjustment) and make sure your vacuum lines are good and connected correctly and you're good to go........

I agree the vaccume leaks will kill the gas mileage in these cruisers the fsm for emissions, is awesome contact C-dan, he can get it for ya! I have all my emission system in working condition after much work. I get around 16mpg on road trips, around 12-14mpg in town. But you do have to remember you have become slower moving traffic, you cannot hammer these things. If you drive it with a light foot it will certainly help.

are you sure its a 24 gallon tank? i havent heard of that

a few more questions i couldnt find anything for the turbo but thats a much later on idea neways here are my other questions

my dad says i cant bolt up a winch to the front bumper because ill yank the front bumper right off if so where can i purchase one of those push bars and where can i mount the winch???? and where is the best place to purchase a good winch?
and last but not least what do you guys think of the SOA conversion??? is it hard to do???? im a full time mechanic so after hours i have access to a lift n such i have all kinds of tools i just wanna know how to do it correctly with no problems...
thanks again sry if im annoying anyone lol

ARB has a nice winch bumper, as do several other manufacturers. You can make one without too much trouble assuming you can weld or can trade work with someone who can. Your dad's right - even the factory winch didn't bolt to the bumper.

SOA depends on what you want to use your rig for. If you're not planning on running tires larger than 33" it's unnecessary.

I'd get it into spec per the FSM & start using it. You'll figure out what it needs.

Check out the smog diagram from Jim Chenowith in the technical links.

Desmogging alone will not improve gas mileage, but it will make for cooler underhood temps (sort a), and a more efficient engine, less prone to vacum leaks, and easier to diagnose and work on later.

I see a lot of rotted and cracked hoses on these vehicles in all areas, so check each carefully and replace as needed.

The word here, is baseline the vehicle..... plugs, wires, rotor and cap, pcv valve and grommet, clean fuel, air, and oil filter, valve adjustment, proper fluids, free flowing coolant system with good hoses etc......

Also check and make sure the fan clutch is operating properly, and not sticking, thus robbing power and mileage.

After all is said in done, the "gasoline tractor motor" is not going to get exceptional mileage, but is a rugged, reliable motor when properly tuned and maintained.

reason i was thinking of doing SOA was because i want my landcruiser for mudding/trailing and DD height for DD doesnt bother me but i want a nice a rugged landcruiser that i can enjoy in the mud...

any the pcv valve and grommet where can i locate that new from dealer???? and where is it located???
Thanks

PCV is in the rear of the valve cover with a Approx 1 in. line running to the air filter. As far as the milage and the 2F. I had my motor completely rebuilt with a new head and manifolds, bored .30 over, a new carb, rerouting and checking all vacuum lines. still get 13 miles to the gallon. But it is a tank!!!

what do i check for if its working???? how do i do that???? some more info would be great... all im gonna do is redo all the vacuum lines again in silicone change air filter/fuel filter and rotor cap everything else ive pretty much completed...
