Hey i always see these badass icelandic rigs with these insane looking fender flares. I was just wanting to know if there was any way to get some of those other than molding my own out of fiberglass.

Iceland Fender flairs

2X on this question all 60 owners on mud would consider those awesome awesome tire covers. Let's hope!:grinpimp:

Some of those "tubed" fender flares would be sick. Integrated into a set of sliders, and you'd really have something.

Flares

If you really want them I would suggest that you contact this guy. I think he works for the company who made the flares on my 62 on the pic below.

He might be able to help you, but don´t think those are cheap ;)

More pics of my old truck here.

Hi guys.

I do have molds for those flares, though I don´t work for a company that normally makes flares, I got the molds from my uncle to make some for my truck.

Could make a few to ship but they take some work to mold on each car, not much but you´d need resin and E-glass matts.

Also they´d have to be cut in half for the rear if you don´t move the rear axle and put one piece on the door and one on the fender.

they´d look like this minus the white stuff, I didn´t have time to cut it off while it was hardening in the mold.

There is some info on my project thread (pages 1 and 2) about fitting them.

they look tops and would love a set for my rig but would be hard to mold them to my rig as i'm on OZ and my rear quarters are not straight from a trip i did on the week end

We should do a group co-op. Making new molds that bolt on would be easy for everyone. I'm sure there are other design ideas as well as stated above with the epoxy and e-glass gluing.

Making the mold would be the hardest part. Once you have a working mold, laying the glass and painting on the epoxy is easy. The best part about fiberglass is that funky shapes and curves are easy. I have access to a ventilation room that can be used to lay the fiberglass. I have limited experience with fiberglass and carbon fiber. I've done a few molds when making a fairing (big shell around the bike) for a human powered vehicle competition. I'm sure if we made about 50 to 200 sets we could easily gain our money back.

Anyone interested in designing or making the initial molds? I have limited artistic abilities.

I have some OEM fender flares sitting in the garage... I never got around to intalling them, but they stick out a few inches past the body. Maybe 2-3"...

I think they might get wiped off pretty fast. At least for me the past few times I've been out wheelin would guarantee breakage on a flair.
