Any thoughts on how to accomplish non-destructive of fender flares. I am having the beast re-painted and want to make sure that I get new paint in as many places as possible.

The flares are attached by a combinations of studs mounted to the flare and auto clips attached to the truck. There is a little tool available at the auto store for removing the clips but I removed mine carefully with only one breakage (had to learn they slide on somehow :) ) The front flares have a screw at the mudflap side, one plastic clip, 4 studs (remove the nuts from the inner fender) and one more plastic square clip at the bumper. The rear flares are two piece and have a screw at the rear, a clip next two studs (nut is removed from inside quarterpanel after you take the plastic molding off its obvious) and the front section has two screws to the door as well as two clips. Clear as mud right? Be cautious as the slotted mount on the flare is most likely to break instead of the clip. Ill try and get a pic of the backside so you can see how it slides down into place. Im sure its been detailed before in one of the many flare removal posts.

clip vs stud
front flare
rear 2 piece flare

I know its hard to see but open in paint or the like and zoom around if needed.

Dang slow editing skills..... what he said ^

a good epoxy resin will fix this..... like I said the flare is the fragile side.

Good pics :)

x2 on a little jbweld or resin to repair.

Funny this popped up today. I just finished removing all of mine this morning. All but the US PS side were pretty easy. I demolished the PS flare out of frustration and it was already smashed

Lost one of the bolts internally, hope it rattles out sometime and just doesn't sit there rattling for ever (read to lazy to tear apart the fender for one bolt)

It's not difficult once you figure out how they are mounted. Pull the front blinker and you can reach all the nuts from there and from inside the engine bay. I had to replace a couple parts of the plastic clips due to age and previously being broken but they are so cheap who cares. Replace the fender gaskets when you put them back on also.

I've had one in my fender for about a year now (assuming it hasn't worked its way out) and I don't think I've ever heard it :hillbilly:
