That is really bad ass. I need one.

Send along a link to the indie music too.

Here's the video from the first part of the day. If you click on the Youtube logo, it will open it up in the actual Youtube site where 1080 quality is an option. Warning: I'm a sucker for indie music.

Hey brett, whats the story on those fender flares?
They are a mock up. EMS powered is in the process of creating a cut out fender flare kit that will fit the 80 series. Probably be about a month before they are ready to start selling them.

Will those cut out some inner fender to fit larger tires? I wanna do 37's soon but like the flares.

Brettt is the coolest one. Just saying

Not sure about 37s. My 35s have no problem. The flares are the same dimensions as OEM flares aside from the cut outs for fasteners.

One of the guys wheeling last weekend I had never met was named Bret and the guy working the window at Boulder Creek was also Bret. I go half my life being the only known Bret and now there are Brets everywhere! It's a Bret confluence.

I was interested up to this part.

So someone will pay for them and they arrives months later. Ill pass.

1st, they are not currently available anyway so you cannot place an order.

2nd, there was a run on their exhaust that they did not expect while forest fires surrounded where they live and work. Doesn't change the fact that they make the best exhaust you can buy for the 80. They have been able to increase supply by outsourcing, the fires are gone, they have filled well over 100 orders since they started, and new orders are continually being placed. They are surprised at the popularity of these exhausts, but I'm not. I have searched for over a decade for someone to do what they have done.

3rd, when the flares are available, due to their previous experience, they will only take orders on what can be immediately supplied. When a backorder condition exists orders will not be taken, but rather a waiting list is being used.

As with most popular items (Ipads, Prius, cabbage patch dolls, etc). The manufacturer can only speculate on the interest that they will experience. If the item that runs short of supply is a precision mandrel exhaust produced by a boutique shop then back orders won't be resolved instantly. Their situation was completley different than the OCD soft top situation. I have done work with the guys at EMS powered. They are on the up and up and talented.

Finally, over the years I have found that a little understanding can go a long way. Someone gets mad and starts bashing a vendor on a forum. Next thing you know people who have no idea past an impersonal thread on a website start making judgements. Everyone deserves the benefit of doubt to some degree since nobody is free from making mistakes that affect others. Intent is something that should be considered right along with competence. I have found that the EMS guys have the right intent and that they are exceedingly competent. They just made a mistake that is easy to make and they responded as well as anyone could after the mistake was made.

You can make some of the people happy some of the time, but you can never make all the people happy all the time.

Of course it's to look cool.

How far off is EMS powered from making these? I had committed to bedlining where my flares were but after last weekend I miss the protection of flares. And these look different than anything else, which I like.

Well, if your tire fits (35s and smaller I guess - not sure if trimming will allow for bigger than 35s or not. I thought you could trim the OEMs to fit 37s and if so than the same trimming would fit these) then these flares are more durable than stock due to fasteners from the outside. The plastic tabs used to hold on the OEM flares get old and break off especially when bumping into things off road. These cutout flares will compress against the body giving way when pressure is applied from the outside. Also, the gaskets work better and will be cheaper to replace as the UV dries the rubber out.

Baktash at EMS said that he is looking at about 4 weeks before he can offer the first 10 sets, but he will not make any promises or take any orders. He still needs to finish some more molds. He said he will add people to the waiting list if they are interested. If you want to be on the waiting list call him @ (512) 686-2800.

Im on 35s and will not go any bigger. That was Josh asking.

I may give him a call or stop by their shop next week.

It's interesting there's nothing about these on the 80s forum. Is he just waiting to have a final product until he posts about them? Seems like he would be able to sell quite a few sets with how many people rip off the stock flares due to the plastic tabs/expensive molding.

Yes. He wants to have the final product ready before they are offered.

They will fit with 37s, but the same precautions need to be taken that are taken for OEM flares; bump stops, spacers/correct backspacing, and possibly some minor trimming.
