Going to put this out there now.

There are 2 workdays this month if you want / need to attend more / play on the trails more with a new rig ( Ryan ).

The first one is Feb 9th. You would be out there with CROC. They are going up there by themselves with no USFS help except to open the gate.

Then there is the USFS workday on Feb 23rd. This will be the real workday for the month supported by all clubs / USFS .

I have no info as to what we are going to be doing yet. I also know we have the Meet and Great the weekend following but i really ask of you to try and make both events if you possibly can.

Also i " think " that i will be doing a walk on the trails next weekend also with the USFS to learn what all needs to be done to get them up to par. I " should " find out tomorrow while i am up there during a meeting at the Outpost.

Last but not least i would like to see what everyone thinks about putting up the funds for a Bobcat rental.

Thanks

Workday stuff for Feb.

Hi Everyone - The next work weekend is February 23rd. Meet at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp at 9am and be ready to install guardrail at the Lower Ledge and at the top of Kodak Rock. We have made a lot of progress on January 26th & last weekend on Feb 9th CROC, ONSC & CTB had folks that were able to come up. If any club has a tractor or a skid steer with an auger that could make it to Kodak Rock either by coming from the bottom of Kodak Rock or by coming in from Rocky Mountain Loop from the Sawmill Trail end please email me and let me know. If you’re not sure if you know which way I’m asking you to come in to find out if your equipment into the site please call me & we can talk about to make sure you know which way I’m trying to get you to the site.

If you have trailers that can go on the trails loaded with guardrail (12.5 and 25 ft long) and with posts (6 ft long) or trucks that could haul these then please let me know that and bring them. Also, be prepared to haul in the guardrail & posts and have chains, D rings etc. so that you’d be able to drag these into the sites. Bring shovels, sledge hammers, work gloves, rock bars, lunch & water, etc. Pete Powell & Drew Brown will be working with you and we’ll probably work until 2 or 3 pm.

Please let me know if you’re club will be there and let me know how many folks will be coming from your club. Thank you very much. We appreciate your help very much. Bye - Terry

Darin, thanks for the reminders and updates.

I won't be able to make the regularly scheduled workday this month as I'd hoped to see your "new look" (as seen on fb) in person. Personally, I think you should have kept the mohawk for a week or two.

With regards to covering the cost for a Bobcat rental, not knowing what the club's reserves are, I suggest we have 50/50 raffles at the Meet and Greet and every other event we do at Uwharrie this year if not all of them. The proceeds would be earmarked to cover the Bobcat rental expense and any other Uwharrie related trail expenses deemed appropriate by you and the club leadership. Tickets would be sold throughout the day (and night) with the drawing around a campfire late in the evening. The winner not need be present to win. Just a thought...

Based on the club input, we all decided that we'd rent the machinery needed to keep up our end of the deal. This is based on what has been the normal yearly need and rotation between other clubs for the monthly work weekends. Allen is the point of contact for money, however I'm not sure what the requirements are for rental payment and taking the responsibility for "driving".

However, if we're stepping up with more work weekends per month in which we need machinery, we'll have to revisit the plan.

Brian. There is only 1 USFS work weekend per month. Should work out to be 11 a year. The one tomorrow is just for CROC and 1 person per club that is a sponsor. I am going up there tomorrow for that. We are walking/ driving the trails figuring out exactly what needs to be done per trail.

Now the Big one in March we should not need anything but ourselves and any hand tools you / we can bring.

And the Main goal this year is to end the USFS weekends and just do our own each month. We will also soon have the equipment to use thru FOU. That is why i am asking people to donate for that reason as we will be using this stuff also.

So you seen the new look eh? Hard to get used to it, but for a good reason to do it. Dog still not too sure who i am.

I'll just never be able to look at you again :crybaby:

Can't make the work weekends this month but I should be able to do the big one next month.

CORE people showed up. About 5 of them anyway. Then more showed up later i guess. Do not interrupt their Latte's. I went over and inventoried our trail then went over and put more guardrail up with them.

Here is the latest and greatest from the USFS.

So, can i get a good count of those that will be able to make.

Yes i know that the Meet and Greet is the next weekend, but hey, put aside some of the beer money you would spend and put it towards some fuel to get to URE.Your kidney and the future generations will thank you.

So, who is ready for some good manual labor. Heck i was just up there last Saturday putting in guardrail and a few weeks prior to that and am going to this next one also. And am going to give a class at the M & G.

As much as I want to I can't do it this month I have too much weekend stuff that is effecting me. But I will be there for the big one next month for both days as long as work doesn't interfere. :frown:

Although I'd love to, I've got some friends from CT coming through Raleigh on the 23rd, so I can't make it this month :frown:
