FAQ: RSS Feeds (1 Viewer)

RSS syndication is enabled for the IH8MUD.com forum...this allows you to view newly created threads in guest viewable forums without visiting the board.

The feeds are currently available in two formats, RSS and RSS v2. The differences are as follows:

* RSS 0.91 - This feed is based on a standard written by netscape and provides a link and the title of the thread.
https://forum.ih8mud.com/external.php?type=rss
* RSS 2.0 - This feed contains title, author, date and the contents of the first post of the thread.
https://forum.ih8mud.com/external.php?type=rss2

To add RSS2 feeds to MyYahoo click here.

The forums to which this applies can also be limited to specific guest viewable forums by adding another paramater to the URL containing the forumids as follows:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=16

For instance, Cruiser Tech id=8, 80-series Tech id=9, TLCA corner id=17, etc....mouseover any of the forum listings from the main forum page and read the ID number in your address bar.

If you would like the content to be generated for multiple forums you can seperate the forumids by commas.

Forum IDs for RSS Feeds

I was trying to set up RSS feeds for some of the forums and noticed that mousing over their links did not show the Forum ID as described in the RSS Feeds post. I decided therefore to basically add every forum ID to my RSS reader until I hit a patch of 100 IDs without a successful add. As a result I think I've compiled a complete list of the current Forum IDs. Some numbers are listed as -NO FEED- either because they were not associated to an active RSS feed or because I do not have access to them (not sure which).

NOTE: You can use the ForumID in parenthesis or right click the forum link to add to your RSS Reader.

Now I'm off to go delete the 200+ feeds I added.

I hope some of you find the list useful. Let me know if I have any mistakes, or if you can fill in some of the blanks in the list.

I just set this up on Pulse on my iPad. Worked so great. I really enjoy keeping up this way. The cheat posted above was also a big time saver. I just copied the link and then used the directory to add the feeds I wanted.

HighRideBOV, do have any idea how to subscribe to all of them at once beside the "(145) EBAY RSS Classifieds" as this automatic feed just fills up your reader with tons of useless ads and you miss a lot of the interesting posts throughout the forum.https://forum.ih8mud.com/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=145
