Looking for anyone interested in some fantasy football. Draft day is tentatively set for Saturday Sept. 4, in the afternoon. Looking to do a live draft party (Not over the internet) and about $30 - $45 per team cost (cost is for league set up only). New 12 team league, get in on the ground floor, experience is not a necessity (but it is a plus) as there is no prize money payout this season. Owners must have thick skin and be able to put up with trash talk and ridicule in a friendly manor, also must have a good competitive, yet friendly attitude. Also, must be willing to commit to a full season with the possibilities of eventually becoming a keeper league format next season. Please PM me if interested.

Lol, trash talk and ridicule.....

I'm a Cleveland Browns fan, enough said?:D

The following is a true story....

Back in '88 or '89 I walked into a huge sports bar here in Glendale called Max's. My friends and I would go there because they had a billion satellite dishes all over the roof and parking lot of the establishment and got every football game live. You know it was back in the days when a dish was a dish at 12' across, the time before Direct TV and the NFL Sunday Ticket Package.

A little back story history here on the place first... Max's used to sit the two teams' fans that caused the most trouble away from everyone else including the team's fans who they were playing that day. Those two teams fans were the Raiders and the Browns. If you were one of those team's fan bases then usually you were sequestered into the farthest corner rooms of the bar or exiled into the dinner theater portion, completely in a separate area, to watch their games in private.

SO.... One Sunday I figured I would go to the bar a little early and meet some friends of mine who were Steeler fans and catch the last part of their game before the Broncos vs. Jets game was on. I paid my $10 cover charge, got my $10 in Max's coupons and looked at the broadcast map where the Broncos game was to be shown and where the Steelers game was being broadcast. The Broncos game was to be in the area of the bar called the North End Zone room and the Steelers were in the 50 Yard Line Room. I then proceeded to head to the North End Zone room first to see if any of my fellow Bronco fans were there yet.

I walked into the room in full Bronco colors and was greeted promptly with a barrage of insults, obscenities, and a wave of napkins, paper plates, plastic french fry baskets, and whatever else could be thrown. First thought to mind was, "Wow, there are some rowdy Jets' fans here today", then I was snapped back to reality by the guys sitting at a table closest to me yelling "Get the hell outta here Fag! There's no one in here that would associate with you!". I looked at them and then around the room where it was a sea of Browns colors and jerseys and everyone of them were looking and yelling at me now. I then started saying "Ahhh, Browns fans, I see" and started backing and bowing my way out of the room while repeating that phrase. Upon my exit as I turned to head to the 50 yd Line, a little waitress who was headed into the room with a tray full of beer looked at me and said...

"Hun.. now that wasn't very smart of you to go walking in there, with them, wearing an Elway jersey. What were you thinking? You know how much they hate that man after those games"

She went on to say that she saw me walk in there while waiting for her drink order and that, "I had made her as nervous as a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs".

What I had not noticed when I looked at the game broadcast map, was that they had placed the Browns fans in the North End Zone to watch their days match-up with the Steelers, prior to the Broncos vs. Jets game. Needless to say I went on into the 50 yd line, met my Steeler friends, and we laughed at what had just happened.

So, I do understand where you are coming from Splitshot!

 Great story..

I got over it but I too used to hate Elway back in the day when Brian Sipe was QB for Cleveland. I think it was 4 years in a row he would come from behind in the last quarter and knock the browns out of the AFC championship.

Brian Sipe and Sam Rutigliano were GODS in my house growing up south of Cleveland. Of course so were Hanford Dixon, Ozzie Newsome, Webster Slaughter, and the rest of the Cardiac Kids!

Only two things would keep you from coming in our house, driving a foreign car (dad worked for Chrysler) and NOT being a Browns fan.

Final offer to join!

****Bump - 4 spots left****

$40 buy in this season.

Currently - I have 2 owners who have never played before, and 2 owners that this will only be their 2nd time ever playing. So don't be afraid to jump in if you have never played before. If you have thought about it, but the opportunity to learn the game as you played had never been an option because of a heavy buy in, well then this is your time to do it now. I will work with anyone this season who is interested in learning the game of fantasy football. I have been a fantasy commissioner for 24 years and have played fantasy football since the very early 80's. This is the first time that I have made this offer in over a decade.

I am looking to build off this starter league for next season. Goal for next year is to keep buy in low and cash pot high. The league will expand again next year and cash pot will be $600 - $1000 on a $40 - $50 buy in.

You can learn the game this season, play for cash next season.

Sounds like it'd be a good league and would love to join but can't make the draft day. I've been getting my 11 year involved gradually over the last two years and he's looking to start his own team to challenge the old man. Good luck and if you need a few spots filled next year let me know.

Cheers,
Norm

************I have two spots left!********************

Thanks for your comment Norm and I will keep you in mind for next season. BTW, the draft day is in question again and might be moved to the following weekend. We would miss the first week of play, but might need to do this to accommodate people's schedules. If that did happen would you be interested then?

Daryl,
Definitely count us in if the date moves. We could fill two of the 4 open spots. I have two drafts on the 29th so I planned some family activities on the 4th and 5th. Keep me posted.

Thanks,
Norm

(Sorry to hijack)

O.R.R. -

What happened to our Cardinals last night!?

Hope they get it together by regular season.

Hey Norm,

Well it looks like I am down to one spot, but I am still waiting on a full commitment. We are looking at maybe doing it Labor day Monday the 6th, or doing it opening week Sunday the 12th of Sept. Do any of those dates work for you? I should know today on the 11th spot. I am just going to do a final call to each team owner to make sure they are in as well. Let me know what date works and I will hold the spot for you till I hear from you. If more spots should open up today, then I will let you know.

Thanks,
Daryl

Daryl - sent you a PM

Murf - I don't believe Leinhart is the future of this franchise. I'd like for him to be but he doesn't show any fire or command of the team when he's out there. The O-line needs to gel together in the next 3 weeks or it's going to be 8 in box every down. Still preseason and even Warner didn't light it up until the season started. Teams gotta shows some life against the Bears. On the other hand, the D kicked but the first two series.

League is closed!
