Hello all!
After speaking with Lomo, I am coming to the conclusion that my fan clutch might not be working (even after removing and servicing).

Looking at Megazip finds me a clutch that costs about $240. Does anybody know of any better or cheaper options that work, or is my best option the stock clutch through Megazip?

What's not working about your fan clutch? The only thing I've seen fail about them is the spring breaks or gets loose. If you heat the spring with a heat gun or hot water (with the unit open) you should see it move the internal valve. If this works ok, the bearing is ok and it's not leaking oil, I don't know what else it could be.

Anyhow, my advice is only buy an OEM one if you buy new. Try talking to some of your US landcruiser parts guys instead of Megazip. I bought a NAPA one in the past and it was crap; didn't stand up to the factory one at all. Also, an HDJ81 fan clutch also will work (broadens the part availability.)

Thanks GTS! So I took apart the fan, drained the grease, did a hot water bath, adjusted, then tried to test. I could move the opening by hand but it would never move going from cold water and heating up to hot water. As many different ways as I tried, it would not expand the spring to move the opening. My theory at the time was that it would not open without the fluid in the clutch. Talking with Lomo, punched some holes in that theory. So I adjusted the opening to a lower set point, filled and put back together. I have noticed my truck staying cooler, but I still don’t hear a fan roar that others describe. At this point, I feel that replacing the fan clutch seems the logical course of action.

Strange; maybe the spring it toast somehow. Yeah, in this case I'd be looking for a new one. I think a few of the US cruiser parts guys carry these things. These guys for example: Cruiser Outfitters
