Well, I'm headed to New Hampshire this week for the Fall Gathering. It's put on by the Yankee Toys and they do a great job running the event. It's at Field and Forest with lots of tough trails right off the campground. They also have trails at Swanzey which is about a half hour drive from the campground. never been to Swanzee but hope to see the traisl there Saturday. Yankee Toys has a great raffle, too- last year I won $200 in gift certificates from Wllesely Toyota, among other things. Great bunch of guys, too. This will be my third FG and it's sure to be a great time.
Later in the month I'm headed to Virginia for the Fall Crawl- this one hosted by the Bay to Blue Ridge Cruiser guys. It's been at rausch in the past but this year is at a new venue in VA- said to be great wheeling. BBRC also runs a great event with a good raffle and BBQ. They're a great bunch of guys, too, been wheeling with them for a long time, both at the FC and the Coal Mine events. Those guys have attended a lot of the pig runs in PA at Rausch and Paragon over the years. .
Newer cruiser guys should try to get to one of these events, or to Rausch Creek next year for the Coal Mine event. Wheeling your cruiser is great, but wheeling with other knowledgeable cruiser guys is much better. Best thing is if you break something there is uaually someone with the parts or expertise that you might need to get you back on the trail. Throw in some great camarderie and you can't beat it. Thinsk about it- great people with similar interests and tons of skills and knowledge.
Put the top and on the 40, it's always bittersweet to get to that time of the year that ends the topless season for the 40. Of course the wife likes it- cleans out the top of my garage enough for her to put more of her stuff in there! The orange and white 55 is running well- steering has been converted to Scout Saginaw and I'm very happy with it. I'm trying to get some miles on the old girl to shake her down completely.
It for now. Gary S
