Hello all,

I'm thinking of selling 1996 ,LX 450 (lockers) with 149, 000 miles. I'm 3rd owner with limited records, but vehicle is in excellent condition and drives well. Any suggestions for a fair price?

Depends on the location, overall condition and how desperate you or the buyer or both are. :D I would say between $8K to $9K.

i saw a 1996 fzj80 with factory lockers , ome lift , roof rack , ect..... with about same milage on minneapolis craigslist , yesterday for $8500

I'd say pick up a paper

look on line

on craigslist

quasi Ebay (what people ask is not always what they get, most do not sell they just replace the ad )

anything with cars for sale...look, compare

get an idea of what everyone else wants as KBB is clueless, nothing but a depreciation calculator.

I'm gonna start a thread for a 97 ;)......without lockers, what dat worth? :hhmm:

and one for a LC, NOT Lexus, and one for 94, and one for 93.......:bang:

how many threads can we use?...

Location is definately a factor. A clean 96-97 80 with lockers and 150k here in Cali averages $12-14k. I looked for a few months before I got mine 4 months ago and that seemed to be the average.

I fianally picked up a 97 LX with 91k for $14,800

I bought my locked '96 with 102K for $8K in excellent condition here in Houston. I've noticed a price and demand increase here lately. I try to post for sale 80 here in the mud as much and as fast as I can to help out fellow mudders. ;)

Recently (Last 6 mo)...$8k here will get you an 80 with 200k+ and possibly some body damage or s***ty interior. I guess that is the price we pay to live here. :D

When I was looking there was a guy on AutoTrader trying to sell his Col Edition with 85K miles for $21k!

I probably could start my own 80 Land Cruiser dealership here and start making money by selling it locally and out of State. :D

I've seen a guy on AutoTrader selling his '97 LC collector's Edition in West Palm Beach with 35K original miles for $35K!!!

That thing was an absolute beauty and flawless.

OK....you win.

I purchased a locked 120k 94 with 4k in recent receipts for 7k about a year ago.

I think if you search--you can find deals.

theres one on sacramento craigslist for 6k with sub 145k......not sure if its locked.

I think if you search- and are patient--you can find deals.

With gas at $3.20+ / and these things drinking like a clamdigger at high tide..... theres bound to be some deals.

There was one in REDWOOD city --locked with a blown hg for 1k that i missed due to electrical outage from storm...... that would have been $1500 for a new hg+1k for the locked cruiser. Someone got a smokin dealio............

I wouldn't pay more than $7000....

But that all depends on the condition it is in, the miles, maint. records, current tires, etc.
Prices very greatly on used equipment that looks close to new and good maintenance records. Gotta keep in mind you can 300k miles from these vehicles with out as much cash out lay as you would other vehicles in that category.

Not really as most peoples head swell with illusions of riche$$ because they cant do anything else to make money accept sell the Cruiser

In case most of you deep pockets haven't noticed its an inflated market out there...:meh:

well, tried but cant find the Ebay 91 LC 80 that was up to 8,000 guess they realized it was a 3fe,.....where is that thread with the guy that bought a 3fe thinking all 80's where the same

then theres the ICON, restorers....60's are getting high

Gotta be patient. I watch Ebay "for the heck of it " to see how pricing on 96's are going.
You can probably find a decent one around 100k miles, good leather, etc. for 10k.
But you gotta travel to get it. Sucks!
I bought mine 2 years ago for $15k. Very good shape though, and I purchased it where it doesnt snow, much and 5 hours away.

I picked up my fully loaded '96 LX450 with lockers, 100% stock, never off-roaded, from a single owner 60 year old man for $11K with 125K on it. It was in mint condition with small cracks/tears on the driver seat which is normal for leather of this age.

I never regretted my purchase price ever. You get what you pay for and if you can find one in the $8-9K range consider it complete luck. I looked at a bunch in that price range with lockers and similar miles and they were all beat to hell. If you have the patience to wait for one in that price range you will be waiting a long time IMO for one that is mint.

found mine with 83k miles on the clock, locked and stock with newer toyo A/Ts, never off the pavement, nice condition for a Midwestern truck and we paid about 13k taxes, registration and all.
