Chain of events -
- had tires rotated by my normal shop, they told me tires didn't require alignment or balance
- drove 120 miles on road trip with car shaking and drifitng hard left
- had alignment and balance done at a different shop (Mavis/ NTB ) as had another 600+ miles left on road trip
- drove 260 miles the next day
- begin noticing a very faint vibration in my gas pedal and my steering wheel (always in both simultaneosly) it manifests on small repetitive bumps, and it's driving me mad. it's mostly consistent day to day regarding reoccurrence, but i have not had the opportunity to try to actively replicate it with different surfaces.

Is it possible anything was done erroneously during the alignment that could contribute to this ? or is it just weird coincidence (I don't really believe in those :) )

any suggestions appreciated!

I suspect the balance job is the culprit. Symptoms are likely related to a front tire balance issue. You could confirm by doing a front/back rotation, but I’d suggest going right for a rebalance, preferably using a Hunter road force balance machine. Just for the heck of it, at the same time confirm any nuts related to alignment were not left loose. Are the tires ok with no odd wear?

Thanks! Will try to get or back to my normal shop.

Gold star if you can identify the sound in the video- it comes and goes as the temperature changes and is not always consistent. In this instance, it was very noticeable when the vehicle stopped quickly, but normally it occurs only when the vehicle is hitting small bumps and rocking left right. it sounds like it’s coming out of the dash in this video however in most cases when I get out and stand on the runningboards and shake, the car left right it sounds like it’s coming out of the frame under the driver side second row.

So had the front tires rebalanced….didnt solve the issue. I notice it kicks in more when the wheel is slightly turned to about 11 o clock if that helps at all
