Factory Security System

Can anyone shed some light on whether or not a security system and/or keyless entry system was standard on a 1996 TLC?

I am purchasing one from a dealer that has the light on the dash which reads "Toyota Security". It currently has an aftermarket system in it which they agreed to take out and activate two Toyota factory remotes and security system. Now they are telling me it doesn't have the factory system and the factory remotes won't lock and unlock the vehicle. What is the deal with this and how can I know for sure?

It was an accessory. There will be a control unit under the driver's seat for the Toyota alarm. Instructions on how to program the remotes are here (a forum member's site): http://wind.prohosting.com/beowu1f/index.htm

When we purchased our 96 it had the same thing on the dash. We ended up finding the security system controler in the drivers side kick panel, above the dead pedal. We purchased a remote from the dealer & programed it to the system & has worked ever since.
