Well my raido antenna has been a loose POS since getting the truck and I can't seem to figure out how it was ever fastened down properly... The mast is also broken and I would just like to replace it with something else...

Any suggestions? Is there any easy way to access the stupid thing on an LHD 70 series SWB>

Thanks for any tips, advice or comments!

Cheers

basically the way it fastened has all desinegrated over the years... I just cut it all up and capped the hole for the moment and am looking for a factory replacement...

Still would like to know the best way to get at it... Drop the inner fender?

Cheers
Eric

On my 75 series I got one of those chrome plugs and blocked the hole in the fender and fitted the fibreglass flexi antenna to the bull bar.
I only have a 12 inch antenna but the mounting allows me to fit a 10ft whip antenna for remote areas.

I found a source for the factory antenna for 60 bucks which includes the holder and everything...

I still can't see any easy way of getting to the stupid thing...

Is that why you capped yours off rosco?

Thanks for the reply putting it one my front bumber maybe the way to go. It would allow for easy access in the even I do wreck it... Right now I just have a flat coin magnet over the hole...

Cheers

Mine sucks too. I want an all black shorter antenna that won't rust! Where did u find it? What's the special size of the antenna hole through the body where it mounts?

I think I fixed the antenna on my 73 series and didnt feel like going through it again on the 75 series.
Besides it looks way cooler on the bullbar:flipoff2:

I forget how I did it ,it was like 9 years ago

This has been an ongoing headache for you hasnt it :D

in my 78 series I can access it from the engine bay by taking the washer fluid bottle loose and moving it out the way - behind it is a cover that can be popped off for access into the fender area. not saying it was easy but it is was possible.

On a LHD 70 I have a brake booster/master cylinder and clutch booster all in the way of accessing any of those access holes....

From what I can see taking that inner fender off is the only way to gain access to it!
