Factory 2014 Tint?

Good Morning. My new-to-me 2014 LC needs to have the front windshield replaced due to multiple dings from rocks. My insurance will cover the replacement but I want to make sure the windshield replacement shop will install glass with the proper factory tint/UV blocker. A Suntek (window tint manufacturer) card was with the owner's manual when I purchased this rig. Was Suntek window tint installed at the factory or an option when purchased new?

Sounds like a dealer installed option or an aftermarket addition.

I recently got my truck fully tinted including the windshield. The tint shop told me that insurance companies would not cover the windshield replacement if you have a film installed on it. He said that he thinks they are considering it modified, and therefore it gets them out of the free replacement. That is just the tint guys story, I have not verified this info. I would just look into this before you push too hard on the insurance company to replace it with a film covering.

Also I live in Florida, so different states could have different laws on this.

Usually, a windshield replacement isn't even checked by the insurance company. You call it in to Safelite, etc. , they go through your insurance company who is none the wiser. I think you are safe as far as tinting your windshield. I also tinted mine btw.

My tint even has a lifetime guaranteed replacement if the windshield does need replacing. (Llumar Formula One Statos tint)
