I want to give a shout out for @Engineer8000 on his skills on factory radios. I had sent him my factory radio from my 1974 FJ40 radio for some repairs.
The 40 hasn’t been on the road since 94. My dad bought it in 98 and I bought it from him about 3 1/2 years ago. I wasn’t sure if the radio would play or not because I’m still building the cruiser.
I decided to send the factory radio to Engineer8000 because the push buttons were jammed and the needle wasn’t moving when turning the knob.
Once sending it to Engineer8000 he texted me saying the radio did play and that was exciting news. He also recommended changing the caps that had to be ordered from Japan not China.
After getting the parts he cleaned the radio, painted the needle, and other repairs mentioned above. He also let the radio run for two days before and after the repair.
I can’t express enough how happy I am with the quick turn around, the communication with updates, and the great detail that was involved of getting it done. If anyone is planning on having there factory radio repaired I would time and time again recommend @Engineer8000.
