Had a member ask about starting a face book page, I don't do any of this, but I know a lot of people do.

Any thought??

I don't see why not.

Sure. It's the new hip thing. That will eliminate half the club though.

Now that i think about it I do not see where it would be beneficial. This site is kind of like our Facebook.

I agree. I don't think any bad will come of having a Facebook page, but I don't see anything other than the status quo either.

I was just thinking about this last night. I have never used it, and the wife just started one to keep in touch with past students and friends at here old school now that she has moved to Columbia.

I was thinking about it as a way to keep the mud site cleaner. I think if we got everyone onboard to checking facebook for socializing, chatting, and bashing each other we could keep this site more technical and informative.

It really doesn't bother me to keep all the chat in here, but it might be worth a try.

Just don't make the Facebook page where we have to go for the calendar, events, etc. Keep this page for all that and let it just be a bull**** session. IMHO

I think it could work but some people don't do face book and some info may not get out to all members.

I dont do facebook, twitter, myspace or that other crap. that is what this forum is for...to communicate and keep in touch and share ideas and events. Why muddy the water with yet another site.

We already have a website that we cant get completed, updated or even have our damn pictures posted within a year.....

Now if it is just to have a placeholder with a link to this forum and our defunct website....then go for it...but I wont participate on facebook. I dont see any value added from this site? Plus someone has to maintain the facebook page, answer all emails and requests for friends, post pictures and stuff.....cant even do that with what little we have now.

I am against it...we need involvement and direction not another place to get lost in.

Ain't gonna happen here. I still stand firm on NO ONE should put their persoanl life, feelings, family drama, personal drama what ever out for everyone to see. Think about all of the youngster out there now posting personal pics, pics of friends, pics of parties, personal blogs etc.... How about in say 5, 10, 20 years from now when one of these youngsters runs for local, state, or federal office or even jobs in the private sector. All of previous posts, pics of previous friends and associates will come out of the closet and bite them square in the ass.
Sorry for the rant but I guess i'm just too old fashioned for these modern times

I wasn't thinking of useing it a a chat forum, more of a directive to steer them to our website or the mud forum.

Glenn stop it you follow me all the time on Twitter . I would use facebook post against dumbs.. All the time when investigating auto theft.

I think it is pretty clear the core group here does not like Twitter or facebook.

From my current limited knowledge of the site, all I see people doing is chatting. Basically like TUT on here. People just randomly posting what they are going to do that day or have already done.

I just remembered we kind of already have a facebook page built into this website. On everyones profile page you can edit it, add friends, and send messages on your "wall" just like Facebook.

I say stick to the website, we don't need both and I wouldn't want a facebook page over a website. It excludes too many people. A website is open to anyone with an internet connection.

Hey all-
The FB page was my idea. I was thinking it would help interested people find the club. Right now we are limited to people actually going out and looking for a club in the area and happening on us from mud or word of mouth.
Facebook would let people know about us even if they aren't looking. It would be another tool to help get members. You wouldn't have to be on facebook for it to affect you, and if you don't use it, it would be no big deal. You wouldn't even know it was there.

Best part is It's free, and all we would have to do is put a link to the webpage and a few pictures or whatever, and provide status updates every once in a while.

I was one of those "Facebook is gay" people, too. I saw no need for any of those sites. (I still think twitter is gay) Then my mom talked me into getting a FB page to keep in touch with the family. I instantly saw a use for it so I made a site for the band. It has really helped keep people in touch with who we are, where we are playing, bringing us new fans, etc. I was thinking it could do the same for LCLC.

I say we try it and see if it flies. I would be happy to set it up and keep it going. If you don't want to participate, then don't. If it turns out that it doesn't work, we just close it. Didn't cost us anything. I can have it up and running in a day.

Again...it wouldn't really be for us. We already know about the club. It would be a recruiting tool for others to find and join us.

I can understand your point of view and it won't hurt to try. Who would be the Admin? The current President and V.President?

I would, I guess. I would also give the passwords and everything to pres or vp or whoever wants to oversee it. I am on there with the band's page and the GSUC page all the time anyway. It would be no big deal to update and hit the "approve friend" button when needed once the page is set up.

if the membership wants to do this why not. I agree, it would add another opportunity to be noticed and increase members.

Go for it Greg.

damn, care to introduce yourself newbie....you been around much and is that your first FJ Cruiser?

where you been ****tard? :D

Hi, my name is David...I "have been". Doing other things trying not to get downsized by some @#$hole vendors and clients.

Hope to get more involved now that summer is here.

Tons of people are on FB. Every FB post can have a link back to the LC homepage or LC MUD page. I think it would be a good way to get the word out.

And :flipoff2: you Brock - (figured a preemptive strike was in order).
