I have a 75 2F that I have just had the valves redone. I have 2 push rods that appear to have been bent slightly. Does anyone know if I can take a F push rod and use it in the 2f motor? I have the 72 F that I took out last year. Thanks for your time and advise.

Pushrods were the same from 1968 to 04/79. So as long as it is the same shape/size as the ones you remove, do not make a dull thud sound when you rap it like a drum stick against a metal table top, and it rolls smoothly across a flat surface, you will be good to go.

Thanks Poser. From what I had found I thought they would work, but to have you say they will is a ton of reassuance to me. Your knowledge and experiance is amazing and appreciated.

FYI I had a 76 2f that the push rods where different than the 74 1.5f I pulled out of my truck to put the 76 in..... so just so you know someone could have changed them with later models... they are easy to see that they are not the same...

Just curious, what deformity or structural weakness does this diagnose?

A crack in the tube/weld that has allowed oil to get into the tube, preventing it from ringing as it would if it were a solid piece.

Cracked push tubes are not good for the home team.
