When I purchased my LC I noticed that the external rear side vent cover was misaligned with the rest of the body. I pried it off and found it was attached with 3M adhesive tape – the prong which held it in place had snapped off, and the previous owner had reattached it with the tape. I have no doubt the tape will hold it in place – the problem however is the misalignment. The prong which had broken off from the cover is sticking out too far so that when cover is placed on the body it does not align properly. My options are either to try to remove the prong with a wrench, file the prong down so the cover fits properly, or file the inside of the cover down so that it can fit over the prong. Does anyone have any experience with this and how to best repair it.
