Has anyone built a new exhaust system in the following way?

OEM exhaust manifolds (they are fine)
New OEM 1st pipes and cats
custom dual tubing to the rear with Flowmaster/MagnaFlow mufflers
dual rear strait out the back.

GOAL: throaty sound for driving around town, start up roar and subtle idle burble

FEARS: check engine lights? back pressure issues? codes throwing?

I don't need more power and I don't care about gaining .002 MPG.

Dirtball, maybe.. but unique.

If your going halfway, why not just go the full 9 yards? Long tube headers (stock ones flow soo poorly), high flow cats, then the rest as you mention above.

You shouldn't have any back pressure issues with an aftermarket exhaust as long as you stay in 2.5"-3" pipe size.

Also if you go with stock cats you should have any CELs, but if you went aftermarket you'd probably need an 02 sensor fooler to keep that in check.

Honestly for a throaty sound and an awesome idle burble just remove the resonator, I have zero regrets.

yep start cheap....pull the resonator and go from there. Duals out the back will be a pia. If the resonator delete is not enough replace the factory muffler with a Magnaflow. That is how I would do it if my goals are sound related vs. performance.
