Not so excellent buy......

IMO, of course..... ...assuming the selling price approaches the buy it now price of $1700. It is a long block and the "accessories" needed to complete this engine (alternator, starter, power steering pump, computer, harness, fuse and relay center, and all of the little things will easily add up to more than $1k.

For comparison, the going rate for 2003 and 2004 Vortec engines that are complete with all of the accessories listed above is $2500. G and R auto in OK probably has a dozen of these with less than 10 miles on them. Unless you are replacing an existing GEN III engine, I think the better deal is the <10 mile salvage unit with a warrantee.

The one sunray got for the 40 they are using has 30K on it and i think they only gave $800 of so for the complete engine.

Well I bought one of theses engines and it looks pretty good, I think it was a good deal considering a pulled 5.3 with accs. is around $1,500.00 with around 45,000 miles and no pcm. I bought all the accs. at a junkyard for $400.00 for alterantor, a/c compressor and hoses, power steering pump, wiring harness and pcm so that puts me up to $2,000.00 for a brand new engine, so for these parts I think I did allright. Now just have to put the damn thing in.
