Its been 32+ years since the first Engine Wire NO.4 Assy. , Sub. Harness was PLANT A11 assembly line installed on a Land Cruiser engine ..

all 2F 3F Carb. & 3FE and DIESEL 's too , had a new idea approach detail little black rubber boot cover applied over there mechanical cluster meter type-gauge's Oil Pressure sending unit .

it had two purposes that i know of :

- engine and road related vibration dampening / insulator , much a vulcanized rubber motor mount achieves ..

- temperature fluctuation shifts insulator , both in extreme cold and extreme hot driving conditions ..

- it would be kool to find out one day if TOYOTA engineers at the time of its across the board introduction had other benefits of its use in-mind that remain un-known still ?

Dang it Matt, I’m gonna have to put in an other order… but let me double check all my other rubber booties in the engine bay… you have too many “must have need/wants/optional/highly suggested” available right now and I can’t fathom replacing one boot while the others wither and rot.
