i just cant figure it out. the 2F just ticks away fine until i pass the 1300-1500 threshold and then it vibrates. consistently. once i get above 1500, vibration goes away and the motor ticks away happy as ever.

belts appear to be good, no varnish. crank pulley is wobbly, but has been since i got the motor 35K miles ago. fan blade is OK, has had some chunks removed. water pump is new with rebuild @ 35K ago, alternator has been rebuilt with new bearings.

i just cant put my finger on it. any ideas? my search of the archives revealed mostly that a vibration on a 1FZ is often caused by a clogged or poorly running EGR, something that mine doesnt have.

definately in the motor. vibration occurs at a stop and while driving equally. noticed the vibration either showed up or became worse after a trip to moab about 3 weeks ago...

any ideas?

TIA

hmmm.... motor mounts makes sense, but i just replaced them oh, two years ago or so.... those toyota mounts are supposed to last forever, arent they?

no power steering. yet. looking for a bracket and the rest of the pieces for a conversion....

cool. If oil gets on teh mounts then they can go south semi quickly. The way to test them is to put a floor jack under the engine and carefully lift. If one comes up easily then its blown. If you wanted to stop by the shop and check it out you are welcome to. You missed a good night of FJ40 work last night with a buddy who has a new '74 that is pretty good looking... :) Anywhoo, cool Eric. Call me if you need anything. If it's something new I can't think of what else it could be :)
