Talked to Jason at TruckWerks, decided to take it to him to get this done. Of course I can't leave well enough alone so he's going to add a few "accessories" to the rollcage while it's there :D .

Now to figure out how to get all the junk to him... Hello, U-Haul???

Stay tuned.

U-haul won't rent car haulers to anyone not towing with a Semi tractor anymore. Someone here is bound to have a trailer you can borrow.

Relix:

2F, 4 speed, transfer case from a 78. Also a new OEM :D gas tank, new trans tunnel, power steering install :D :D :D and the rollcage stuff is a bar and belt mounts for shoulder harnesses, plus a rear bench and harnesses.

BMAN:

The 40 is still driveable. I'll just get a small trailer and pull behind the 80 for the big stuff.

Stay tuned...

Dropped off the 40 last night. Excited to think next time I drive it it'll have power steering, a 2F, 4-speed... :bounce:

I'd love power steering a 2f AND a 4sp.

What did you have to give for the engine and trans?

Update:

Jason looked at the motor and the head needs to be rebuilt (leaking valve guides) so it's on hold until that gets fixed. :whoops:

But the good news is the old F and 3 speed are out. Jason says engine bay and frame cleaned up, looking good so

Anyone want/need a F motor, or 3-speed, or 3 speed transfer case?

Stay tuned.

I think it was $500, got it from tfdcruiser (he's on here occasionally) from Tucson.

Of course that doesn't include the new centerforce clutch, Mean Green starter, headers, new exhaust, trailer rental(s), time off work... :D

UPDATE:

After Josh @ Truckwerks disassembled the engine, he found more problems. LOTS of sludge in the oil pan and gouges in the main bearings and crank mains. Lovely. After doing some basic math  I decided to order a motor from Eddings Engine Rebuilders (same place that does Man-A-Fre and Marks Off-Road engines).

Got the long block, balanced, etc. $2200 plus shipping etc. I think it's a pretty good price considering head rebuild at $500, crank work at $100 or so, plus the rod bearings, piston rings, and gasket set I already bought at $250...

Stay tuned. Hopefully will be done by AZ Rocks...

UPDATE to the update from the update (you get the idea)

Got the new 2F engine from Eddings. Took 3 weeks longer than promised. Hope this means they were real meticulous...

The rebuilt carb from Mark Algazy is on the way.

So all the parts are here, just need to get them installed. Woohoo I can see light at the end of the tunnel! :bounce:

Jason and Josh have been great through all this.

What did you do with the old 2F? I may want it, as I've rebuilt 2 of them in the last 4 years for other folks, and they are getting hard to find.

As soon as the new engine is in and I know I don't need any more stuff I'll be ready to let it go. It'll be cheap as I know Josh and Jason want it gone...

I also have the original engine, original trans and transfer case as well. The engine ran well but leaked oil from the side cover, and had a high-speed "miss", felt like fuel starvation, not sure.

Plus I have other stuff.
