engine noise

my engine makes a clicking noise when its running gets faster as i rev the engine up and vise versa (83 fj60) what is/what fixes it?

Try checking the where the EGR cooler tube connects to the bottm of the exhaust manifold. If the gaskets gone it can make what sounds like a clicking noise when reving or accelerating.

its in side the engine valve cover area

solid lifters/valve tapping(make noise )... loose spark plug wire will click...but its prob just valve tapping..

Does that mean he nailed it?

You should also check the valve clearance if they havn't been adjusted in 20k miles. Too much clearance can be a bit noisy and reduces power.
