Having trouble removing my cotter pins keeping the shifter arm connected to the car and tranny

Not to sound smart ass...but if you are having a problem with this, then hopefully someone else is doing your motor/trans removal....but in all seriousness:

When I did my transfer case gears, I lowered the whole engine/trans assembly a bit on a floor jack after removing the trans crossmember to give a bit easier access to the top of the transfer case stuff like this and the harness connectors that you'll need to remove too...hopefully this can help you out a bit. That said, don't lower too far or you could damage other stuff depending on how far along in the removal process you are (thinking fan/radiator, coolant lines, wire loom, etc.).

Spray PB Blaster up there all over everything.

Wait a couple hours.

Use long needle nose pliers to grab the loop and pull them out. Make a note of how the washers are stacked before you pull them apart, as soon as you pull the pin, all the washers will blast off there and scatter to the four corners of the Earth.
