The idea has been thrown around a little bit in the past but I'd like to get as many of us as possible together! A small group of us was able to get together at Arron's earlier in the year and had an awesome time, but I know there were a couple people that couldn't make it. I will be back up to Spokane in a couple weeks and would be more than happy to work on the logistics of setting something up for everyone.

I was thinking we could do a BBQ of sorts and then go wheeling; or just wrench for a while if anyone has anything they'd like to get done. I have a very small apartment with virtually no parking available so I can't contribute much on that end, but if anyone would like to volunteer space, food, equipment, etc. that would be awesome. I figured this would be a good way to get some ideas flowing so post away!

Great suggestion

Hello lucky people from the Inland Empire,

I just moved to Spokane a month ago (and bought an LX450 for the environs) and like your idea. It would be great to meet some people and go wheeling. We could possibly have it at my place depending on logistics. It's central (South Hill).

But it's also not ideal since there is no place to work on trucks and I don't have any tools to speak of so a wrenching party would require bringing your own tools and working on the street. Not really ideal as I said. I do however have a back yard and I freshly refurbished my grill. It's all about logistics though...but I'm in favor and will help.

My email is agerhardt at ((()) gmail and I check that, while I'm not really on this site all the time so my mailbox might fill up or I'd be slow to check it.

Let's do this!
Andrew

Great suggestion

I should have said: People lucky enough to live in the Inland Empire...

I just saw that I can subscribe to a thread, so I think my messages should be forwarded to my email. I don't really know forums, so forgive me.

Let's do this!

Guys,

Not getting much of a response on this. I know I own a Lexus and live on the South Hill, so that's a couple of strikes.

Thinking about it, the idea of working on trucks on the street, and I live on Manito Blvd, appeals to me because it would be fun in so many ways. The weather will get cold before we know it and the opportunity for bbq's will be gone for the year. Also I did get sliders, so it'd be nice to install those and try to test them out when we go wheelin' if this bbq thing gets any response. Anyway my weekends are gradually filling up, and more importantly the days are getting shorter.

If there is support from anyone please speak up, otherwise things will simply whither away, and what's the fun of having a club if nobody shows up? The old trucks primarily still exist because people think the fun to be had with them is something special and worth hanging on to. The newer one's aren't the same, but can still be a lot of fun, and the rationale for operating them may be a little different, but I think is just as valid. I think we should strive to get the old and the new together, and appreciate the heritage and fun to be had with the old while encouraging the use, 'abuse' and enjoyment of the new.

I am grateful to those that have responded to me on this forum when I reached out, but I think a bbq is a great idea as it kind of acts as a catalyst for good things with respect to the club and with respect to cruisers.

Thanks

Andrew,

Welcome to Spokane! As you've probably noticed looking through some of the threads on here, we can be a bit of an indecisive bunch and it takes some effort to get us all organized. With that in mind, what dates work for you? Maybe if we start throwing out dates, it'll get some interest rolling.

P.S. Andrew and I can't have contributed all 90+ views to this thread, we know you're out there! :flipoff2:

All,
Preliminarily, how about Saturday the 25th of August? This is not set in stone yet though. That is fairly soon too.

I would do the Evite thing to get an idea of possible numbers, but have no idea as far as a list of invitees goes. I will need some guidance on that, and some help with the organizing.
Probably either Cruiser owners or Toyota 4x4 owners in general and their friends and family and kids. I have two little kids, so depending on what the logistics look like and how the invitation system works and how family friendly everyone is I will open up my house. If past experience makes anyone think it's too risky to open the house up, please, please let me know. That would be forever appreciated. What I don't want is jokers trying to do donuts or burnouts (like a cruiser could do that anyway) in their rigs with straight pipes, or showing off their axle articulation by driving up tree trunks. Anyway you get the idea.

If it stays small we do it at my house, otherwise we move it to the park or some combination. I would prefer to have it at my house, but if a lot of people are interested we have a backup. Those are my thoughts. Any other contributions or thoughts would be really welcome, especially early on. At some point my address goes out (probably via email) and I lose the ability to graciously back out. Right now I am looking for feedback and advice and then we can plan more.

Spokane is really family friendly and I like it that way. That said, beer is one of the reasons I would like it at my house, but if it gets to be too many people that is no longer a possibility and we have to move to a backup location like Manito park or wherever.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
A

Sorry for not replying

Sorry for not replying. With the fire season like it's shaping out to be I have zero free time. Not sure what days work for me until sometime after the middle of September. If I have any free time when the BBQ is going on I'll be sure to join you guys.

Good luck!

Yeah it'd be nice to all get together. I think the date suggested is the same day my fantasy football draft is? I'll have to check.

Great, anyone who wants to come call or text me and and I'll give you my address. 509-688-3667.

So I just bought 12 ears off Corn for 3 bucks on the way back from Walla Walla at a roadside stand. It's a start... We should bbq!

Is this bbq happening on this Sat? I'm visiting family in Spokane and might check out the bbq if can.

Sent from my hawn finga using IH8MUD

I'm going to have it. But so far the response has been a bit anemic, but that will hopefully change. At this point, I'm looking for suggestions as to how to encourage participation. I am on the South Hill, so pretty central. Call or text and I'll give you my address. I would also like to do a little wheeling that day too if we can get a schedule. That may encourage some people to come out. If anyone wants to call me with suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. 509-688-3667. Thanks

Ill be there if I'm not working but they are calling for dry lightning and the state is finally burning...

Everything has literally dried up. I hope we get a needed soaking today. The fires and crop damage are horrible with the drought. Anyway it'll be dry on Saturday.

So I'll be cooking out tomorrow. I've got some Sockeye and Silver I'm defrosting from earlier in the season along with a little corn. Let's say noonish to four. I have some beer left over, but we can always get more. Manito Blvd about two or three blocks South of the park. I'll park the good old gold LX450 on the street. 509-688-3667. Thanks, hopefully there are enough people to enjoy the fish!

If anyone wants beef, Franks, asparagus or whatever just bring it.

Wish we could make it today. It was looking good but the wife had some last minute stuff come up so she has the car, the 62 is on fumes, and we've got $2.14 in checking until I get paid next Saturday. Lucky us :bang:

That's a very valid reason. I was grateful for the turnout such as it was, at least I wasn't alone. Perhaps we do a monthly or some other regular interval meeting during the week, maybe rotate it around people's houses to keep the cost down, instead of having it at a restaurant or something. I'm flexible on that one though. Probably keep it relatively short and then those who want to do some wrenching can stay. That's another advantage about having it at someone's house. Or if anyone has other ideas... It shouldn't be overly ambitious and we should just try to make it fun. Today was such a nice day, I'm sure a lot of people spent it with family. Lastly, I finally had enough incentive to wax the truck, I think it looks good!
