My EMS flex joints failed as well. It is my second set of flex pipes sent under warranty by EMS, but I don't think getting a third is an option. Like most other guys, the ordering process and initial customer service was awesome; however, that is no longer the case. I've read in some places that EMS still has a shop that does work locally, but their website is down and phone # no longer accepts calls. I just took mine to a local shop this morning. Like most guys, I wish I had just done that from the beginning. The guy is welding in two higher quality pieces of flex. He said the EMS bellows-style flex is junk. He's also going to weld some support near the flex to reduce some of the stress on it. The company is Mandrel Bending Solutions near Baltimore, MD (actually in Pasadena, MD). Seems like he really knows what he's talking about. Hopefully all goes well. I'd say avoid EMS, but with a now defunct website and phone number, it doesn't seem like anyone has to worry about ordering from them anyway.

How long have you had your system on and other than the crap flex joints how do you like it?

I've had it on for almost three years now. I just got the truck back from the shop in Pasadena, MD. He was able to weld in two high quality flex joints. He showed me the difference in the joints before he installed them. They appear to be very well made. He also welded on a support bracket with a rubber bushing just behind the front O2 sensor. The mechanic was confident that they would not fail again. It may be worth your while checking them out before you install the exhaust. Being on the east coast, my exhaust definitely doesn't look new, it's pretty crusty, but all the metal still looks to be solid. The exhaust has two of the silencers installed in it. One towards the rear, and a second that was installed just behind the "Y" when they sent me my second pipe under warranty a year or so ago. It has a pretty cool sound to it, and doesn't bother the neighborhood or start dogs barking in the morning.

You said you're in Virginia right?

Would there be any chance at all that you might be willing to let a muffler shop take a look at them to replicate it with good quality stainless? Of course they shouldn't need to actually do anything more than take measurements.

I'd love to get an "EMS Exhaust", but as we all know that EMS is pretty much gone, the only other seemingly bolt-on option would be a Doug-Thorley which is a little too domestic pickup truck sounding for me.

What do you mean by pickup truck sounding?

So when I say it sounds like a pickup truck, I'm talking about the domestic pickup trucks that are floating around (Dodge Ram, Chevy Silverado, even the 5.7 Tundra)

When modified, these trucks just scream American South, with their extremely throaty and truck sounding V8's. That's perfectly acceptable, as they're trucks. The only difference is that the Land Cruiser/LX (in my opinion, which I completely reserve as my own opinion) is not really a truck in my eyes. Yeah, it's convenient like a truck in that its large and can haul things around, but it's in a completely different class from a truck and therefore in my opinion should not be treated as one.

When I say I don't want it to sound like the pickup truck, I'd rather not be floating around sounding like an exhausted american pickup truck because I don't think the 2UZ/UZJ100 is deserving of such a classification, and I'd rather be in my own. I know for a fact that when properly plumbed, the 2UZ can be a wonderful sounding V8, even sounding close to Ford Modular V8 status. I'd much rather have something that sounds more sporty than truck-esque.

Additionally, if you look around at the various dyno charts comparing the stock/DT/EMS(Magnaflow) exhausts, the EMS by far makes the most power, which makes the tradeoff of sound even worse for me with the DT.
