Looking around Huntsville-ish... not south of Birmingham. Maybe even Tennesee. Looking to be closer to wheeling if that helps.
I'm in IT, kind of a do-it-all IT guy. Worked in IT for 13 years, small companies until the last two years, so I've dabbled with everything.

I have resume, lettters of recommendations, cover letter, references, etc, ready to forward if you have a lead on a job opening...

I'll keep an ear out for you. Heard today that the guberment is about to start looking for several hundred cyber security and it positions for both DoD and contractor.

typed badly on my iPhone using IH8MUD

many business around Huntsville are geared to support DOD / Redstone Arsenal. I think you can get a listing of local compaines via the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce. Otherwise you'll find companies like Boeing, Raytheon, Northrop_Gruman, and many smaller shops geared towards either services or end items or R&D that's supporting efforts related to the Arsenal.

IT support is often contracted for.......contractor is local and provides IT support personnel to work in Gov. buildings to support IT infastructure. Don't know what kind of certifications may be required.

Contractor = private company who performs under contract to the US Gov.

One place to look like I've mentioned a few times is teh wonderful web site...usajobs.gov for federal jobs. If you apply for a federal job, make sure to follow all directions...no matter how stupid or assine. If you don't, the resume may be simply deleted without any explanation....

One specific word of advice generally speaking...try to avoid jobs that are tied to specific contracts unless that's the only way in...becuase when the contract ends (and it will) the jobs can go away to.

Not looking for any contract jobs at all honestly. Every friend I have that are on contracts no matter how long, and some for years and years, are always unsure. Especially lately.
