Hi folks,

Apologies - another thread from me, I think this car made its way into my ownership because no one else would have been mad enough to keep the faith with the issues I've been having, but I think it's deserving of my love so I'll pour some money into it!

I've owned this 100 series (4.2TD) for just under a week and I've already discovered leaking issues from the windscreen which I've bought a ton of new parts/mouldings for to aid when replacing the screen. The alarm would randomly go off too, so I've now been locking it off the key itself (to avoid arming the alarm), still unsure if this relates to the leaking or a separate issue.

In what appears to be an unrelated issue, when getting the car to kick down going up a hill the other day it hesitated when accelerating after kicking down and then an EML came on. I hadn't kicked the car down like this until now!

I bought a cable and downloaded Tech Stream and gave it a scan, and sure enough this is what I was presented with! I feel it's unlikely the actual turbo at fault, there is no noise or smoke and as far as I can tell it drives well too.

I did wonder if it was an electrical issue given the leaking but in hindsight I think it's likely to be something more like a vacuum leak or something. It's going to a guy who works on these for a full inspection this weekend and to look at this issue too, but I just wondered if anyone had experience of this issue and potential causes.

Thanks so much!

Would question the boost reading if it's stock? Doubt they run 32 psi from the factory, unless UK spec vehicles are quite different to over here.

I doubt the Boost PSI varies massively (if at all) between UK and AUS on these 4.2TDs but I didn't know what was an appropriate PSI in stock form.

If it's an issue with the car thinking it has more boost than it does, maybe MAP sensor is faulty? Also, intake air looks hot considering it was probably 15C outside, but I'm not sure if that's expected.

Thanks

I can't remember exactly stock boost but would be ~ 15 psi. Intake air would be about what I'd expect.
@Indestructible 47 do you remember the stock boost on your FTE before we messed with it?

This got me thinking, as atmospheric pressure is around 15 psi, so I just did live data with the engine off and it brought up 15PSI for the MAP, so I can only assume this plus the extra 17 PSI looks normal (unless 17 PSI is not what we would expect).

In that case it's probably about right.

Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks
