I am going through emissions here in Arizona in March, so sometime in mid to late february I am going to do a tune up. I had problems last time so I hope not to have any this time. I hope to be more proactive. I was searching through some past post and have a few questions.

1. I will replace my plugs, wires, rotor, air filter, fuel filter and do an oil change w/filter. Is there anything else I should replace?

2. I did a search for seafoam and would like to do that before I do the above. I just want to make sure I do this right.

2a. Put a can in the gas tank, do I need to drive the whole tank down before I change the plugs?

2b. Second, put some in the intake hose that goes to the PVC valve, I think I saw someone said about a cup. Make sure the engine is hot before I do this. Put it in and it will stall, wait about 10-20 mins and start it up and drive around.

2c. Put some in the oil? This one I would like some more clarification on. How much to put in the oil? How long should I drive it with the seafoam in the oil? I do burn some oil.

Thanks for the help! I hope to do more good then harm

I would think that what you put in the gas tank wouldnt have much effect on the plugs. However, what you suck up throught the PCV will totally carbon foul the plugs. I have seen recommendations for 500 or 1000 miles of driving after Seafoam, before oilchange and tuneup.

When I did Seafoam, I drove around 700 miles before changing everything.

Hope that helps. Hodag

1. PCV (the small metal valve next to firewall next to dizzy)or make sure yours rattles but they are cheap if it has been awile.
2a. I would drive through the tank if you can before changing plugs.
2b. This is the best place to use this stuff I think.
2c. Would skip it in the oil.

Check your timing before the smog. Also pull of the hose going to the smog pump from the air cleaner and make sure it is sucking good..so you know you pump is pulling in air. If you got a book, read the section on air injection system and check out what you can. Do a search on here for it.

goodluck
