I heard that El Paso is getting rid of emissions testing in '07. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true and I move out there in June would I get a grace period? I'm damn sure that my wagon wouldn't pass.

That is the rumor. I heard that a number of years ago also. we are all hoping that it goes through though. I am sure they will come out with something else so the businesses that offer this will be able to charge us for something else though.
As far as a grace period. I believe you have 90 days from the time you get a residence here to change over your plates and liscense. hope this helps.
If your vehicle is over 20 years you can get collectors tags and only have to register it once every 5 years and only have to pass emissions for the first time you transfer plates.
There are always ways of passing emissions. You just have to know the right people. Get ahold of one of us when you get out here and I am sure someone will be able to steer you in the right direction.

if you end up in Woodland park you dont need it.. :)

From what I gather though, is that if you live in Teller and commute to El Paso you still have to meet the reqirements. If they would ever know is another question.

I'm also hoping to find a commuter vehicle as well. So that may answer that question.

Thanks for the help guys.

Hmm.. Ive been hearing this for a while now, i hope they finaly do it.. Too bad my Registration is up in a month or so!!

Mine Blows Cleen, but since its an engine swap i "should" have gone to the Emissions Tech Center (almost imposible to get ahold of)!! Only thing i am missing is the AIR Injection System..

It's actually only 30 days after you become a resident of the state.
