Recently picked up a 2012 Taco with a 6spd manual. Every time I pull up the emergency brake the idle drops immediately to about 500 rpm and near stalls the truck, but only for a brief second. It’s only when I engage the hand E-brake? I searched and noticed someone had something similar, but only when they disengaged the E-brake. Mine is when I engage it. Also, if I slowly pull out the emergency brake at idle the truck shuts off?

Any suggestions? Thank you!

I can't even fathom a little bit how one could affect the other like that... The other person you said experienced something similar - did they figure out any additional clues in their situation?

I went underneath the dash and simply moved some wires around. I believe something was touching and creating Resistance. It is working fine now. A little bit of random luck I guess lol. I will take it!

Wow, that's crazy! Glad it's working now

That also happens intermittently in this new '12 Tacoma project. It's been sitting for almost a year so we'll see. We ordered new Toyo tires, helo wheels, and calipers so it will be a good time to check the brake and the wiring.
