I went to see a 1988 truck the other day which had an H4 button to engage the 4x4 system. The next day I went to see a 1990 (or late 1989) model which had no H4 button and engaged the 4x4 via the mini-stick-shift.
Does anyone know what the "rules" are for these two different methods? I presume it's not the age of the truck as the (slightly) older 1988 truck used the electronic system. Is is related to the spec code (the 1988 truck was a "VX" model, the 1990 was "STD"). The 1988 also had electric windows vs manual windows for the 1990.
Is the 4x4 engagment mechanism related to the model code (eg. VX)? Any relavent info appreciated. Thanks
ps. Both were european LJ70 models.
