I'm chasing problem with my idle:

I normally idle around 800-900 RPMs. Occasionally, it kicks down to 200 and sometimes stalls approaching a stop. As soon as I start the engine it's right back at normal idle. If I notice the idle is slow, I can put it in nuetral while driving, turn the key off and back on, "push" start the engine and everythings back to normal.

Seems like something electronic. I'm downloading the FSM at work so I should have copy unless I get caught printing 300 pages on the copier!

carb idle selnoid, its on the back side and towards the motor of the carb(has a green plug on the driverside of the carb(only elec on the carb)..........me bets thats your problem.

forget how to test, I think just put 12volts to it and you should here it click.

new OEM is SPENDY, I know there is aftermarket but I can't find it.

so would the same apply to a 62. just replaced fpr, and it runs worse now.

If the idle is freaking out after being up at highway speeds only, I'm thinking you could have an EGR problem. Do a search and you can find info on how to test it.

Check that idle solenoid too.

When I bought my 60 it did the same thing. Turns out it just needed a tune-up, carb
rebuild and to chase down and fix all the vacuum leaks. Like in the EGR circuit.
But my PO wired the idle solenoid to be hot in run. So I kinda know that wasn't the
problem.

This is a fairly common issue. Should be threads on it. Ask lowtide. I think he had a
similar problem.

I would guess a EGR valve. The EGR valve might be stuck open. Try taking off the tube on the EGR valve and give it a good blow with the engine off. One time my FJ60 would not idle unless I had the choke pulled out all the way. It would just die right after starting it. It turned out the Engine Fuse was blown.

i had the same problem with my 85 60, cleaned that green plug and checked the connection and my problem went away.
