anyone an electrical genius on 80 series or able to diagnose one? I have cascading failure of my power locks and done lights but nothing else at this point. Started with the rear driver door actuator not responding. Now the rear passenger and the back hatch only sometimes unlock. Also the dome that turns on with the front doors would not work in the "door" position even though the door lights and dash indicator prove that the door switches themselves are fine. Now tonight both domes and the map light are completely dead in any position. Threads in the 80's tech section are useless. Full of unrelated advice or poorly explained technical jargon. I have had a windshield leak in the bottom drivers side corner and heard that power is distributed through a "j3" jumper behind the cluster there. Anyone else have experience with this? The cruiser will be filling in as a daily driver for the next couple of months so I'd like to not get locked out or stranded with a dead electrical system somewhere. Thanks!

Probably completely unrelated, but do you have a trailer light adapter installed? When mine went bad last year, it was causing all sorts of bizarre electrical problems (though none of the ones you're describing). Would be worth unplugging it and see what happens.

Speaking of electrical gremlins, did you figure out what was happening with your brake lights?

Check the wiring inside of the rubber sleeve between the driver side door and the body. The opening/closing cycles of the drivers door can break wires and cause all sorts of weird shorts.

A while back when my original controller went out I replaced it with one that plugged into the factory location. I had left some wiring in that connected left and right tail/brake lights. After we got back from spring break trip i took out all the remnants and everything seems to be working okay. Can't say for certain there was cause and effect but there could have been some odd feedback going on. Just need someone to follow me for a few hundred miles and make sure there are no weird intermittent problems.

Does next March work for you?
