Where and what color is the best wire to tap into for an electric brake controler on a 97?

I tapped into the brake switch wire which is (obviously) right behind the brake pedal. The harness is quite short. I spliced in another length of wire into the switch wire to make the hookup a little easier. Power wires were run from the battery directly to the controller thru the firewall grommet.
