I've just installed a new Facet 4-7psi solid state fuel pump in my 40 which is running a holden 253 V8. ive mounted it about 200mm from the fuel tank like the instructions said to. It ran great for the first 50km or so but now its making a loud knocking sounds, its not constant but its there more often than not?
Ive still got half a tank of fuel and the car still runs fine so i dont think its having trouble picking up fuel......
any ideas?

Hi All:

I have no experience with either the Holden 253 V-8 (a very SBC!) nor the Facet brand electric fuel pump, but on my FJ40 with a 2F the previous owner mounted an electric fuel pump aft of (forward) of the fuel filter.

This set-up seems to work fine. Where the fuel pump is mounted must be nearly 30 inches (76cm) from the fuel tank.

Do you have the fuel filter before or after the fuel pump?

Regards,

Alan

Is the pump mounted on isolators? Some of them vibrate or whine while in operation. Did you have to re-route fuel lines at all and maybe one is bouncing against something?
