Before I rip my electric steering out, I wanted to document it here for anyone interested. If you call City Racer or the manufacture, they will tell you the system is only suited for working with stock suspension, they have no clue about Saginaw style setup.

So, here is proof it works. Manual Saginaw box, boregson shafts, the EPS system with a Borgeson joint welded on the end. And the control box tucked up in the dash. It worked great, but I don't think it will be enough to push 37's or 40's on the Rubicon, and I'm changing over to hydraulic now before I get farther down the road.

The EPS and steering box are for sale.

What are you doing instead? Volvo pump and conventional box?

Yes, I have the Volvo pump and I have a pump off a Gladiator as well.

I didn't mean to imply that it couldn't turn the manual box. And thanks for that link. I'm afraid of breaking a sector shaft on the manual box if I go to 37's or 40's. They don't build stout versions of the manual box like they do the PS boxes.

Have you done the current draw on the hydro pump ? seems like it would suck battery down fast, I know the ac compressor on my tesla uses quite a bit.

Oh Im agreeing with you. I was more responding to their notion "the system is only suited for working with stock." I was agreeing that it should not require anymore torque if the the ratios are the same and there are less potential losses. Now effort to move big tires is a different thing, and would have the same issues with a drag link or Saginaw. I really like your setup for EPS over keeping the drag link and had not thought of it.

the current draw for the hydraulic pump is large. As is the current draw for the EPS. But, there's no way around steering 37's or 40's takes some energy. But, I've got 180 volts available to supply the 12v. So, the 12v battery will be fine.
