Hey all, I'm not exactly new to the Island but I am to this section of Mud! I'm from Horseshoe Bay, and for the past few years I spend several months of the year in Vic at school.
My rig and daily is a 1988 BJ74 - quite heavily modified except for the 13bt itself (AFAIK). I've had it since 2019, and in that time apart from the kms put on it, I've added to the PO's list of mods and got the body to a non-rusty condition.

I've been thinking about squeezing a bit more out of the engine and tuning it to run a bit more efficiently (@ 345K kms).
It's got a 3" exhaust going through an aero turbine muffler and I have a manual boost controller on the way. I have a boost gauge but won't be 100% confident with doing adjustments until I also have a Pyro.
I was thinking of increasing the boost from the stock 8PSI to about 10PSI to start, I won't go too crazy on it until I eventually rebuild the 13BT.
Does anyone have suggestions for a local shop they might trust with a Pyro install? I was going to have it done at EBI but timing was not right.

How mechanical are you? Drilling a manifold is not hard, in fact it’s deceptively easy. It’s where you put the hole that matters. You can do a post turbo EGT probe. Easiest. That’s just a hole in exhaust pipe right after the dump. Pre turbo means hole in exhaust manifold and for safety of not getting filings in the turbo you want to either remove the manifold or the turbo first.
Going to 10-12 psi on boost should not be a worry.
Go to the diesel section on the forum and post the query. There are lots who have gone before you and can provide proper knowledge.

Yeah post turbo is dead easy, shouldn't take more than a few minutes to drill a hole.

Some pyro probes come with a hose clamp with a hole in it to clamp it in. Don't even need to weld .


Not as good as pre turbo maybe but for the ease of installation you can do it that way and then move it some day you have the turbo or manifold out.
