EGR sealant options

My flange on the egr pipe to the bottom of the ex-manifold is not perfectly flat apparently. I have tried two OE gaskets and can't get it to seal properly. I have a very quiet tft tft tft.

Last night I bought the 700 degree copper sealant and coated the gasket and flanges. I drove the rig to work this morning for the first time without any type of intake or exhaust leak. It was amazing. Then suddenly the tft tft tft was back.

Is there any type of really really really high temp sealant that can be used or any other product that could be used for a rookie on a budget?

Anyone used exhaust system tape/sealant stuff? Would that work?

youre probably just going to have to get a new pipe. i went through a couple of gaskets till i fnally took it all the way out and saw how bent up it was. i tried sealing it like you for temp fixes. i tried hi temp rtv etc. with the gaskets but eventually (like a day) it always burns out

I had the same issue and was lucky enough to find the reinforced replacement "J" pipe that SOR sells. Found it on ebay from a person who was desmogging. Picked it up for like 40 bucks shipped and the problem is gone. I guess you could achieve the same countermeasure by making a flange out of 3/16 or 1/4" steel plate. Make it so it acts like a big washer over the entire flange face. That make sense?

Another exhaust/ EGR sealant question:

I have had the famous 2F tft, tft, tft under load the whole year I have driven my 60.........except for the first day after I removed and cleaned my EGR valve. The next day, it was quiet as a mouse. It almost freaked me out how quiet it was. Shortly after, there was the famous tft, tft, tft again.

Past history- before I bought the 60, the EGR j-tube had been replaced 2 times by Toyota, and the gasket had been replaced 5 times in the prior 20 years!

The day I removed the EGR, I didn't unhook or mess with the j-tube flange, EGR cooler, or assocated nuts, and the sound went away.

Could I am going to take the EGR off and try it again- maybe tightening it up, but I wondered if I should try some of the copper high temp sealant on the threads before putting it back together?
What about Blue Locktite?
Is there possibly a seal that can be replaced?

Any other ideas?

I may run some Seafoam through it before I take it apart to try and confirm where the leak is. Good idea?

just stick a stethoscope around under there or vacuum tube to your ear and find out where its actually coming from
